The Railway, Liverpool

Last night, there were three different real ales on, including Cain's Bitter and live music from a singer/guitarist named Tom Kelly who performed some well known songs and some he had written himself.
The staff are never anything other than friendly.

The Grapes, Mathew St, Liverpool

Get Audrey back! A legend of Liverpool bar staff.

Central Commercial Hotel, Liverpool

It's worth a visit for the architecture, but the least said about the ale, the better. No real ale, no bottled Guinness, so the nearest anyone will come to real ale is a Mann's Brown.

The Queen Victoria, Llandudno

A well kept pub with a couple of decent real ales (which were quite pricey)and a very good menu. Food was nicely served and in very good portions.

The Castle Inn, Rhuddlan

Nice little pub with well kept ale. I've never had a problem with the locals.

Caskeys, Rhyl

No real ale and loud thumping chav music.
Head over to The Swan Inn and enjoy a real pub.

The Harbour, Kinmel Bay

You will wait a good while for the food to arrive, but it's very nice when it does.
Worst part about it are those children who are allowed to run about all over the place by their parents. Some people have no idea of how to behave and it shows through their offspring.

The Ferry, Kinmel Bay

Not bad, but if you are told there will be a 45 minute wait for food, expect to wait almost twice that.

Sussex, Rhyl

Nice enough pub. Quick service from friendly staff and I've never had a problem with the food.

The North Wales Inn, Rhyl

A dump! Unclean, sticky carpeted dive with no real ale.

Swan Inn, Rhyl

The best pub in Rhyl. A couple of real ales, decent staff and friendly locals.
A word of warning. Best left alone whenever Liverpool or Manchester United are on television. The place during the holiday season is full of non-Scousers pretending to be Liverpool supporters or non-Mancs pretending to be Manchester United supporters. A mile up the road Rhyl FC are playing to 200 real football supporters while the local armchair fans walk around advertising AIG or Carlsberg.
Any other time, enjoy the well kept beer, reasonable selection of spirits and the feel of a good old fashioned pub.

Millbank Inn, Rhyl

Decent enough pub. Friendly staff and friendly clientelle and a couple of real ales. Handy for the football ground too.

Welkin, Liverpool

Not a bad pub at all. Very friendly and you always get as near to a pint as possible in an unlined glass. Perhaps one or two of the staff at the Runcorn Weatherspoons should be sent to The Welkin for a spot of training on how to serve beer.

The Fly in the Loaf, Liverpool

A great pub! Very efficient manager and very efficient staff. The beer is spot on. Probably the only pub in Liverpool where you can have a conversation about Rugby League with the manager and some of the staff which makes a nice change from the over-hyped Premiership chat which goes on in other pubs.

The Ship and Mitre, Liverpool

This is a great pub with a great range of beer and wine. Very friendly staff who keep 'on the go' no matter how busy the place gets. You never wait long for service.

Crown, Liverpool

Very good food available and considering how busy the place gets, we've never waited more than twenty minutes from the order being placed to the arrival of the food.
There's usually a couple of real ales available and at 1.80 a pint, very good value.
Nice decor and friendly staff.

The Baltic Fleet, Liverpool

Stan Shaw should be knighted! I've never had a bad pint in The Baltic Fleet. I prefer the stout, porter and mild while my lad prefers the lighter ales, but whatever the beer, the genius of Stan shines through.
The young bar staff are very friendly and helpful. Assistant manager Trevor Williams is a great bloke.
As for the toilets, the management are installing new ones and even better news is the Wapping Brewery is due to increase its output.

Globe, Liverpool

A great little pub selling a very nice pint of Cains Bitter, Cains Mild and a guest ale.
Sixties music played at a level so as not to stifle conversation, very friendly staff and clientelle. My first pint in The Globe was in 1973. It was a good pub then, and it's still a good pub now. It's supposed to be an 'old man's pub', but my lad is 19 and really enjoys visiting The Globe.

The Railway, Liverpool

I visited The Railway last Saturday evening accompanied by my son. We enjoyed the Well's Bombardier and the Old Spekled Hen on draught.
The music was supplied by a couple of lads playing guitars, one of who was an accomplished singer who put me in mind of Paul Rogers in his Free days. Nice bluse voice son! His friend was a more than adequate guitarist.
It's a nice pub with friendly staff and a cheerful clientele of all ages. We'll be back there a week on Saturday.
