Nice evening pub, although the only thing that has let it down for me was on the 2 Friday evenings I've been in, it turns into a bit of a creche with kids running around everywhere (inside and out). Call me a stickler, but there is a time and a place.
Bar staff pleasant and accomodating, serves a good pint.

Bring back the Speckled Hen on tap. Fantastic food as a restaurant, with sufficient bar area to pop in for a couple of pints. Just what the town needed really.

What a transformation the new owners have made. The place now looks lovely, with what looks like quite a bit of money being spent sorting out the toilets and bar area.
Had lunch there last Sunday and found the service very good and the food excellent (try the steak and ale pie, which is to die for. You couldn't make it for the money they charge). The owners seem to be turning around what was an ailing pub (no pun intended) back to the more traditional establishment it once was. With better ales (Speckled Hen on tap, Pride and IPA) and great food/service, definitely one for a return visit. The owners tell me they are looking at other guest ales. They still do the quiz and pint & a pie night.

Visited the pub again today, with new baby in tow (well behaved) and had no problems. Bar staff friendly and helpful, food is still the best in the village (try the fish and chips - the portion size and quality I have never seen anywhere else!). I notice that the garden has recently been done and looks fantastic... definitely a Summer crowd pleaser. Although 'Speckled hen' no longer on tap the landlord is now doing guest ales (try the 'Alespril Fool').
