The White Hart, Crawley

This was my second post of call after The George on my Crawley venture. Was almost run over by a cab driver outside but, he grinned so I thought I would too.

The pub was split into a crowded bar and a slightly less cramped snug where I positioned my party next to 2 ambitious, mature ladies.

The pub was quite fun and reminded me of the pubs of my youth in Plymouth. It was atmospheric and there was no hint of pretension about it. Well worth a punt I reckon.

p.s. I had a rosy glow by the time I got here - can't be held responsible for any erroneous reviews

The Rose and Crown, West Green

It wasn't the height of Saturday evening when I went in but I didn't think that this pub was quite as bad as anonymous felt. In fact, I quite enjoyed it. Live band, and that seems to be the norm most Saturdays, and the pint was alright. Give this pub a try - drink here and you will undoubtedly get drunk

The Princess Louise, Holborn

Had a nice Samuel Smith pint of stout in here. Pleasant bar room atmosphere and decent pub, all in all. Missed out on the urinals unfortunately but you can't have everything, can you?

The Effra Hall Tavern, Brixton

I thought it was great in here. Nice atmos and good Guinness - Food looked good as well although I didn't dabble. Thumbs up all round.

The Sussex Oak, Warnham

This is a great pub for food certainly. Only approx a 25 minute walk from Broadbridge Heath to reach Warnham.

Fine selection of ales on offer and a really nice Sunday roast (they didn't overdo the vegetables).

Friendly staff and a big beer garden out the back.

This is the sort of pub to be recommended on a long summer's day.

Dry Dock, Leicester

I remember living in the Putney Road flats when it was built. By God I could reach it within 2 1/2 minutes and the sheer smell of the place had a magnetic charm all of its own. Once vomitted over my shoes in the toilet there but don't let that make you disinclined to avail yourself of its charms. Happy memories of a boat race in there as well. Can you still go up on the poop deck?

The Blue Posts, Soho

This pub is great - small, popular, great barstaff. As the other posters have said, this is a proper pub. You should take up a seat with Hemingway at the bar and talk about affairs of the day or break up a fight between Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton in the other corner. Many is the happy day I have spent in here

The Shelley Arms, Broadbridge Heath

This has been refitted recently and is worth a punt if you are in the area. Friendly bar staff and nice interior. V G in summer with events in the sizeable beer garden. Also the only pub for miles so if that doesn't encourage you, I don't know what will.
