The Duke of Edinburgh, Bacton

Visited while on holiday in Bacton. On the saturday lunchtime we were greeted by a barmaid who seemed to have a very bitter attitude towards visitors, very abrupt and not very friendly but we once we were seated we had a decent lunchtime meal and a decent pint of moorelands best.
Went back on the following friday evening and a different young lady who greeted us could not have been more pleasant, she was a pleasure to be served by, very happy and helpfull. A great meal (recommend the liver and bacon) and good prices and a nice couple of pints of "home" ale (The Duke Bitter) What a difference decent bar staff make. First visit 4/10 second visit 9/10

Lighthouse Inn, Walcott

Nice pub with friendly staff, nice drop of their "own" ale called.....lighthouse ale. Family friendly. Now....the food was "nice" and freshly made in house using local produce but it was way over priced which put us off going back again. 8 out of 10 for beer and staff but 5 out of 10 for overpriced food.

The Horse and Groom, Writtle

Went last evening with my wife and daughter and have nothing but praise for this pub. The sevice was excellent and friendly, The beer 1st class (Adnam's best bitter, Directors best and Wells Bombardier) and the food was excellent, good portions, pipng hot and very very tasty.
This was the second time I have been to this pub in 3 months and it was just as good the last time I went.
No complaints whatsoever.

The Three Bells, Hordle

Visited the pub with my family last week while staying at the premier inn adjacent to the pub. The service was a little chaotic due to it being a little busy!! but the food was great. The usual beers on tap: Fosters, Carling, Boddingtons, John Smiths, Guiness, also strongbow.
The only guest ale was from a local brewery, Ringwood Brewery and was Ringwood best bitter, sad to say it wasn't a great pint but I think that was down to the pub management not doing their job properly.

Great to take the family for some cheep, good pub grub but not a great drinking hole.

The Bell, Danbury

Paid a visit to this pub with my 10 year old daughter for lunch and the lady behind the bar could not have been more welcoming. We ordered our lunch and sat out in the garden to wait.......10 minutes and the food was there.

Lovely fresh food, good prices and a lovely pint of Youngs best.

Well worth a visit.

The Gin Trap Inn, Ringstead

My family and I are staying in Ringstead for a week in October so we had a daytrip up to have a look around. After a 2.5 hour drive up we found the lovely cottage that we would be staying at and then headed to the local pub for a beer and a bite, "The Gin Trap"....... A big disapointment, not very welcoming and the Lady boss had the hump and it seems an attitude problem to tourists !!!!

So we won't be back for a pint or more in October, BUT, found a lovely pub in Holme next the sea called, "The White Horse" who could not have been more welcoming and served delicious food at great prices and some great guest ales, and only a mile and a half from Ringstead.

So do yourselves a favour...drive past "The Gin Trap" and head to "The White Horse" at Holme Next the sea.

Hoopers Bar, Camberwell

As a Chelmsford City supporter, I visited this bar along with about 50 odd fellow supporters before our game down the road at Dulwich Hamlets ground where Fisher also play.

Jamie made us all very welcome and we had a cracking couple of hours before kick off trying out the many real ales and vast choice of bottled lagers. The food was also first class and not rip off prices. A cracking bar and look forward to paying another visit next season if The Clarets don't get promotion this season.
Just a shame the locals do not show it the interest as it deserves.

Pier Bar, Southwold

It's just a seaside cafe.......with Adnams on tap. More people interested in their cream tea's than a good pint of ale. Stick to the town pubs for your beer and good food.

The Red Lion, Southwold

My favourite pub in Southwold, Cracking home cooked food and a great pint of Adnams Broadside.

The Crown, Southwold

First class Cod and chips and a cracking pint of Adnams Explorer. Staff could do with cheering up a bit though !!

The White Hart, Blythburgh

After spending a week in southwold with my wife and young daughter, we visited The White Hart on two occasions and I have to say I was very impressed by the friendly service and the quality of food.
The beer battered cod was to die for and they kept a first class pint of Adnams Reggata.
Well worth a visit.

The Bowling Green Inn, Wells next the Sea

A cracking little homely pub on the outskirts of the town, opposite the church.
Good home cooked food and some decent beer as well, along with friendly staff.
Well worth a visit .

Six Bells, Boreham

I went to this pub with 12 other members of my family to celebrate my Dads 70th birthday on the 14th June, and I have to say I have nothing but praise for it.
The bar staff were very friendly and the waiting staff second to none, the food was the best I have had at a pub for a long time. The choice was very impressive and all served to each member of my family at more or less the same time.
We had a great evening and my dad was very happy.
I'll be back without doubt and can recomend The Six Bells to everyone.
As for berk(ly), The manager of The Six Bells is a "proper" manager and knows how to run a good establishment. Went back there today with my wife and daughter and sat in the beer garden, which is well kept and again very welcoming.
