King William IV, Sipson

Potentially a very nice pub but, inspite of its obvious age, it, and the rest of Sipson, is earmarked for demolition to make way for more earth (and soul) destroying airport.

The Antelope, Belgravia

Went there before and after a concert at the nearby Cadogan Hall and thought it an excellent discovery. Good quality beer, pleasant atmosphere and very friendly staff.

The Queens Arms, South Kensington

With the demise of the Ennismore, this is the only pub anywhere near Albertopolis. It is understandably expensive because of where it is but the beer I had this evening was excellent and the staff coped in an extremely efficient and friendly way with the sudden influx of custom they had from patrons and perfomers from the Royal Albert Hall.

The Square Tavern, Euston

Considering how close it is to the dreadful Euston Road, sitting outside on a warm evening seemed very pleasant. Very useful if you are catching a train from Euston or waiting for the rush hour to die down. Perfectly good Youngs Ordinary and civil - and English speaking - bar staff.

Central, St Andrews

My kind of lunchtime pub, in my kind of town. Good beer, appropriate food and, when I was there, a pleasant atmosphere created by a mixture of locals, students and visitors

The Anglesea Arms, Hammersmith

Surprised but delighted to get a table on Sunday at 1.30 - the no reservation policy has its advantages. Not cheap but food quality and service was excellent.
