The Black Horse, Exeter

Large open plan with plenty of tables. The beer has a reasonable selection and a good sized bar. the beer was ok, but i have heard other people say a few pints they have had there were not so good. well equiped for all ages, but mainly younger people go in there. worth a try and a good reasonable pub when your on a crawl in exeter centre

The Hen and Chicken, Bedminster

Recently refurbished and revamped. Gone was the run down look and good pool tables. Yet another yuppy minimalist bar opened up at the Southville end of Bedminster. Lacks personality and character. It's basically a smaller version of the Tobacco factory, but still quite a large pub. It's more of a suited business person's hang out by day and a studenty place by night. It however is definitely not cheap though. Well overpriced! I wouldn't even bother knowing what it's like. I'd rather they brought back the run down dump it used to be. At least it was a good pub then

The Winford Arms, Dundry

Very well presented pub and well maintained. Great parking facilities and a good location. Goo selection of beers. Bar staff are friendly. Customers seem rather snobby and stuck up. I didn't like the atmosphere. People stil conversed, but i got the impression because i am young i wasn't welcome. Good real ales though. If you're an older person who is respectable and doesn't mind quite overpriced drinks then this is for you.

The Harriers, Hartcliffe

I went in once. Never again. This pub is seriously rough. A couple of weeks back an asian man was glassed and ran over outside after an argument with people in the pub. I don't know who made the previous review, but i know the area and i know that this pub simply from appearance would put most off. Stay well clear if you like you kneecaps

The Imperial, Exeter

Fantastic Pub. Real ales served, good wetherspoons standard. Enormous beer garden, enormous interior, plenty of seating. Good atmosphere, not too crowded. There are three bars, but only two are open. Due to the pubs size it can take a while to get served, but that can't be helped to be fair. All round it is a great pub and probably the best in the exeter area. Suits all kinds. Essential visit

Lloyds No.1, Bristol

If you're out for a night on the town this is a good all rounder. It is a wetherspoons Lloyds number 1 bar, which is a wetherspoons pub with a dance floor and music. It is large inside. It does attract more yobs than a millwall match and the doormen are rather ignorant. The service behind the bar is slow and as for food, it's pretty standard. There are two floors with an odd if small middle sections between them. It is always busy and particularly so on a weekend. It's situated on the waterfront and this attracts your typical weekend under 25's. Not a mature drinkers pub, but pleasant enough by day

The Old Duke, Bristol

A real gem of a pub. If you love live music and jazz or blues is your thing then this place is for you! A few ales are on sale and they're a good pint. The Old Duke is a rather small venue though and seating is hit and miss. As with all places that play live music it can get very loud. Don't expect any musicians younger then 35 at a push. This is for old experianced musicians and Eddy Martin who plays twice weekly is very highly recommended. Great for live music, which is every night and most lunch times also, but poor for seating. Other than the seating this is a very good pub indeed. Worth a visit simply for the experiance

The King William, Bristol

This is the best pub on King Street, just off the Queen Square. It is a Samuel Smiths pub which sells only Sam Smiths brewery drinks, but don't let that put you off as the beer is exceptional. The pub also boasts three pool tables upstairs and a additional upstairs bar that although is not currently open, should open within the year. The bar staff are friendly and the food is great. A new change in management should be pointed out, but the only difference has been a slight downfall in the food quality. The food is still good, but it was brilliant before so alot to live up to. Great atmosphere and a complete variety of characters. No yobs come near the place and therefore great for a night out. A real ale was on sale temporarily recently, but was removed from sale as it didn't sell well despite it being one of the best ales around. Damn shame. Apart from that a cracking pub.

The Llandoger, Bristol

A good and well presented pub, but sadly lacks something when it comes to atmosphere. The beers are good and a couple of ales are on sale. The pub also sells reasonably priced food and has a relatively large interior even though the seperate rooms individually are not that large. The pub boasts a restaurant upstairs which is very good, but apart from the food this pub needs a couple of added incentives such as a pool table or evening entertainment. Good for a quiet pint, better pubs nearby, worth a visit never the less

The Apple, Bristol

Great Cider pub on a boat at the end of King Street near the Victoria Bridge. You can sit upstairs on the deck which is covered by a rain shelter or downstairs in the slightly cramped bar. This is a great pub and if you are a cider drinker it is an essential visit. If you do not like cider then there is not much point visiting as they serve absolutly nothing else. It is on a boat, but the boat is moored and the river is calm as a mill pond.

The Lounge, Southville

This pub is quite posh for the area and is surrounded by several cafes which attract business types. The usual clientelle ranges from students, to middle class mothers with young children through to business people. The prices are higher than most of bedminster, but you do get good beer, and fantastic food. Tables are limited, but very comfortable. Definatly more a jazz bar than even close to a pub. No Ales though

The Hen and Chicken, Bedminster

No real ale, but does a good guinness. The pub is a large open room with enormous windows. There are countless tv's and sport always on them. If you want to play pool this is the best pub for it. There is also a good jukebox with a variety to suit most tastes. There is plenty of seating, but it does get busy at times. The toilets are pretty revolting though, but has one of the best comedy clubs in bristol upstairs. There is some tables outside, but i would be no means call it a beer garden. Good pleasant doormen, but they don't take any trouble.

The Jolly Collier, Bedminster

Certainly a more mature pub and often sparse for clients, but serves good beers and a couple of ales. It has a narrow structure and a tv at the end. You do get a few stares when you enter, which is a little unjolly. Worth visiting on a pub crawl as it is near the main pub area of bedminster, but not essential and nothing special

The Coronation, Bedminster

If you want a small pleasant pub with a safe atmosphere this is it. Beautiful little gem situated in the middle class area of southville. Not far down the road are a couple of rough pubs, but don't let that put you off as this is well worth a few pints in. There is a selection of the usual beers along with some great pints of hopback. The pub is quite small and seating is unfortunatly sometimes hard to come by on a busier day. If you are in the area it's like a country pub in the town and worth going into.

Assembly, Bedminster

Great pub, easilly the best in Bedminster. Large interior, has music but it's not in your face and has a good selection of beers including the usuals as well as wye valley ales and bitter. There are doormen and a dress code, but as long as you are not dressed to mug, you'll be let in. Brand new interior and pleasant staff. There is no back garden or pool table, but this pub is well worth a visit and is a fresh breath of air from the grubby looking local establishments.

2 Apr 2007 21:04

The London Inn, Bedminster

A working class pub which lacks lighting. It is dark even in the day. A central bar seperates several sections of the pub. It serves the usual selection of booze and attracts a few yobs particularly on weekends. It states above the entrance of real ales, but i am yet to notice them. It may sell them now i do not know. The pub is great for a pub crawl as it also has a pool table and a good jukebox. Does attract the yobs, but worth a visit as it is still a good pub

Salt, Bedminster

This pub used to be called the Aorora, but i never went in it when it was called that. It is more of a bar than a traditional pub. It has a younger more studenty clientele, but is well worth a visit. Football matches are shown and in my experiance pubs that show football can become unpleasant if the results go badly, but this pub is very good and has a exceptional doormen who tolerate no trouble and do not let under age drinkers of yobs in. There are also two immaculate pool tables in a seperate building via the back garden which is also pretty immaculate. A well looked after pub, but has no real ales. The furnishings are modern and it can get a little smoky, but overall well worth a visit

The Full Moon, Bedminster

This pub is rough as razors. If you don't want trouble then don't come here. There is often a fight usually without fail once or twice a month which is far more than should be tolerated. The bar is extremely small and the only two pleasant features are karaoke on friday nights, which attracts some yobs although most are pleasant folks who participate, and a pool table although this really does attract the burberry types. Ian the landlord is a good bloke, but hard as nails. In this pub, he has to be. Not recommended unless you know regulars and also has the worst ventilation for cigarette smoke I've ever come across in any pub. There is a small back garden, but it is dirty and looks uncared for.

2 Apr 2007 20:46

The Princess Of Wales, Bedminster

This is a cluttered pub and seems as though it's got two many tables in it. The regulars seem a tad unwelcoming, but it is worth seeking out if you like a quiet pint. Small selection of ales are present, but if you are scared of dogs be warned as a large alsation type wanders around. It is a friendly dog though and has a fond liking by the regulars. There is a small outside seating area at the front which looks into the nearby estate which is a relativly pleasant area.

2 Apr 2007 20:39

The Black Cat, Bedminster

The pub is narrow and fairly small. It is a good a pub though and if you like bass it is one of the best for it. I haven't had a bad pint of bass here yet. The pub is cosy and great for an evening pint. It lacks the fast paced and sometimes intense atmosphere of nearby pubs and is a real gem in the middle

2 Apr 2007 20:35

Robert Fitz Harding, Bedminster

As with all wetherspoons there is no music, but sometimes it can be heard from the kitchen. The pub has a large interior and a fairly large two sided bar. Recently the pub has gone through alot of personnel changes and went through a rough stage with yobs frequenting. Several fights broke out and thus the wetherspoons reputation tarnished sumwhat. It has picked up in the last couple of months and looks to be getting back to its best. It can get very crowded particularly on a weekend. The pub serves a variety of ales and a selection of guest ales which alternate. By day it is very much an old mans pub, but because of it's large size you would go unnoticed as the pub has many regulars. The ale is good and the pub is well furnished and maintained. It has a very small beer garden, which goes virtually unnoticed just off the non smoking area towards the rear of the pub. There are two entrances to this pub and no matter what end you come out of another pub is in sight. If you want a pub crawl or a starting place for a night out in the centre, this is a good start.

2 Apr 2007 20:31

The Red Cow, Bedminster

If you want a working mans pub complete with a group of yobs by the pool table, this is for you. The beers are average, the interior is average, but the atmosphere is smoky and filled with more swearing than a richard prior stand up. I haven't given it a second visit and very much doubt i will.

2 Apr 2007 20:24

The Miners Arms, Bedminster Down

Bristol Born and Red is what it says on a banner above the front entrance. The pub is relatively small and apart from a leather sofa that has seen better days is not looking it's best. Beer wise it's a standard collection behind the bar. Atmosphere wise it is often quiet. I got stared at as soon as i went in and the atmosphere seemed to be a regulars only place. If your on a pub crawl it would be ok, but otherwise i wouldn't bother.

2 Apr 2007 20:21

The Robins, Bristol

The Robins is a hard-core Bristol City pub and is packed on a match day. Other days it has a flowing custom and is popular with locals. It has two rooms, but the first nearer the door is the main pub area. A working mans pub to some extent, but never the less has a good friendly atmosphere. The standard collection of commerial booze is behind the bar. Don't go to this pub if your not a fan of smoking as it gets foggy in there and also wearing a football shirt that is not Bristol City would be unwise.

139 Degrees North, Bedminster

Dave runs the pub along with his son. The pub has a large beer garden and a relatively large interior. It lacks an atmosphere for most of the time and even when busy on the weekends, it is never crowded. The bar is large with three sides and has the usual selection of commercial lagers along with guiness and blackthorn. It also sells Hobgoblin ale which attracted me to the pub as i love ales. The first time i had the hobgoblin it was a good pint, but the 2nd time on another visit to the pub, it had a strong taste of vinegar, which put me right off. The pub is great if you want a quiet atmosphere and quiet pint, but otherwise I'd recommend other pubs in the area to be better.
