Cargo, Shoreditch

Excellent venue and location, right in the middle of all the other decent places to go. Dont expect a great range of beers though - they only have Amstel on tap, and decent bottles are limited to Old Speckled Hen and Budvar, which are both 3.95. Great outdoor space as well

Gordon's Wine Bar, Charing Cross

A truly unique bar. You only get wine and port here, but its not the sort of place you stumble upon, so if you're going there you already know that. The setting is like drinking in a cave and the staff are humorous and friendly. Ive taken friends, girlfreinds, colleagues, clients, parents, everyone... and theyve all loved it

Bar Music Hall, Shoreditch

Awful! Went here to see my mates band play and the place is not set up for it. Sound was terrible and clientele spent whole set throwing things at the band without any intervention from staff. The drinks here are also very expensive, although there is a fairly good selection.

The Edinboro Castle, Camden

This pub has a great beer garden, with many undercover sections, which will no doubt make business swell since the smoking ban. They have a great range of weissbier, ales, lager and bottled beers too. Indoor areas are available for free hire and the staff are very good. It is however terribly let down by the quality of its food. The burger is average, although a good size, but the accompanying wedges, all 3 of them, are pretty meagre. The side of chunky chips was a pile of mushy goo and the prices are steep for the standard. If your not intending to eat though, a good pub with a great outdoor area

The Pitcher and Piano, Richmond

Such a shame, given the setting and views of the river, that place is so awful. May I recommend not going, so you dont end up paying 10 for a pie that was actually a splodge of stew with a ball of puff pastry flotaing on top. May I also recommend, if you insist on going, not ordering the mushrooms side order - 3 for 3 mushrooms? Bargain! Utter nonsense. Thoroughly unrecommended

Foremans Bar, Nottingham

Undeniably unique little pub. Plays exclusively punk music and has an unusal look. However, it is very expensive and doesnt serve any decent beer. Shame

The Coppermill Tavern, Walthamstow

This is a great pub, although it is very small and if you dont get a seat, you are very close to eeveryone else. Beer is good and has outside seating as well

The Goose, Walthamstow

Awful pub but very very cheap. Some bad experiences - no lime for corona, fridges werent working so warm bottles, no ale - have left me a bad judgement of this place. However, it is open relatively late and is right by the tube so you can escape the pub, and Walthamstow, very easily...

The Rose and Crown, Walthamstow

Dont be scared to go in this pub. Looks pretty dodgy from the outside but is actually pretty good and very friendly. Does Thai food, typically, which is actually very good. Selection of ale is very poor, although it is pretty cheap so cant complain too much

The Village, Walthamstow

Walthamstow's best pub by far. Good ale, although not an extensive choice. Huge beer garden, but the real asset are the staff who are always very friendly. Poor food lets it down

The Nags Head, Walthamstow

A good selection of fancy Belgium beer, but no really decent ale. Very pretentious and extremely expensive, especially given its location in one of the most affordable spots in London to live. Nice enough design inside, but not very welcoming and opens very late on a Sunday - often not to time

The Red Lion, Leytonstone

A suprisingly friendly theme bar with the bonus of a late licence. Drinks are bog standard and averagly priced. Seating is good, including some ultra-comfy sofa's. There is a club bit upstairs, although I havent been and can only imagine the atmosphere up there from the scallies in the queue each night

The Walnut Tree, Leytonstone

Friendly, if ever-changing, staff, and great food, especially for a Weatherspoons. As with all Weatherspoons, great selection of cheap and unusal beers from all around the world. The beer garden is a real bonus and the seating inside is ample. Even when packed, Ive always got a seat in here. A very mixed bag of characters, but you always feel safe.

O'Neills, Leytonstone

Awful. Very expensive, especially for the area. Full of undesirables and no decent drinks. Ona Friday night, the room next door turns into the nightclub from hell and attracts even more undesirables. The only possible saving grace is the large beer garden, which provides a lovely view of the traffic jam leading up to Green Man roundabout.

The Bell, Leytonstone

Great local and probably the best all-round pub ib Leytonstone. Very friendly staff and clientele. Haven't eaten there but the food is very cheap, while the drinks are standard prices for the area. The decor has a lot to be desired though and is very outdated. Overall, this is a welcoming, reasonably priced local with a good atmosphere. You wouldnt go there for its range of ale, although you wouldnt go to Leytonstone for that either!

The Market Porter, Borough

Huge selection of ever-changing guest ales. I went a week ago and since then they had at least 5 new guest ales on offer. Great building and you can even take your pint next door and get '3 posh bangers in a bun' for 3.50. You can also stand outside and make yoursel hungry gaain by taking in the aroma of Borough Market. Very good value as well

The George, London Bridge

Excellent pub. Great original decor and good selection of real ale. Huge courtyard as well with outdoor toilets. Its a shame the food lets it down, which is standard pub fare, including the obligatory soggy veg

The Royal Oak, Borough

A disappointing experience overall. The drinks are very expensive - a pint of guest ale and a pint of shandy came to 6.20 - and the setting arrangements are less the comfortable. The bench that my friend and I sat on was very lumpy and we were virtually sat on top of each, even though 4 people should have been able to sit on it. We had intended to eat there, but after the poor value of the drinks, we didnt fancy paying over 8 for a pie! Good selection of real ales though.
