The Kings Arms, York

I have visited this pub a few times for the Sam Smith's beers. Great prices and local, independant beers/drinks. This is a great location for a drink. For those who want to eat it is not the best place as Sam Smiths gave the food over to a family member who failed in another food supplying business so the food basically sucks. But if you want good, nutritional food then cook it yourself (lazy git) or go to a decent place that actually specialises in serving quality food. Sam Smith's are great pubs for good quality beer and a reasonable price.

The Foresters Arms, Grassington

Nice selection of beers and a nice pub to share a few drinks with friends, The service was pleasant and a mixture of locals and tourists made it a good atmosphere. I would say it is the best pub in the village for drinking. Was not impressed with the food so i went next door to a great place called "The Retreat cafe". Fantastic service and fabulous food and a great price. I even got a couple of Sam Smith's beers in there to eat with my food. Sam Smith's is a fantastic local independant brewery in Tadcaster, York. After this went back to the pub for a couple more beers. between the pub and the cafe i had a great few days there and will be going back as soon as i can. A must for anyone in the area.

The Carlton Tavern, York

This is the worst pub and place i have ever stayed in. I actually stayed in the "hotel" appartments at the rear of this pub which were like under a bridge in downtown harlem. The rooms smell of damp and rotten woodwork, foundations and previous tennants. The toilets and taps did not work and when this was complained about the little upstart of a manager just huffed and puffed (what a looser). The windows did not shut properly and were rotten anyway. The whole place was disgusting with insects and filth in all parts of the rooms. I dod not expect too much at 35 per night but this place was pure filth and smelt of mould.

The pub had a few locals in who were dressed in their local best of jogging bottoms, vests, cheap bling and screaming down their mobile phones because they want to get attention. The food was not even tried by any of our party as we got a glimpse of the kitchens which looked like a latrine after a bout of stomach ache. DO NOT STAY at this place it is rotten to the core and a disgrace to the hotel industry. It needs to be shut down.

The Market Porter, Borough

Great selection of Ales. The rest is just cosmetics.

The Artichoke, Shenfield Common

Must agree with what skerriegoat has written on this pub. The same old corporate mass produced over priced products which the everyday non-thinker will appreciate.

Shame these companies cannot come up with the idea of free thinking and maybe offer different things at different locations. I will not venture to this pub again but will find another one with a tad more individuality about it. Maybe a place where people who eat a burger and fries in a pub do not think it is up market as someone has put a green leaf on the side of the plate.

The Jolly Farmers (ex jordan), Lewisham

This used to be a good little pub to visit after work. However i must agree with the last person that it has made me use another pub as the "real ale" has been replaced with "really stale".
