Has been tarted up, the pool tables that were there Christmas 2007 (the last time I saw the one Hop Pole) are gone and has been replaced with extra seating. Frequently eat lunch with work colleagues. Food is very good.

There also individual booths to the front of the pub with private fridges that can be rented when footy's on. Not tried it out, but suppose you then only need to leave the TV to use the loo. Appears very busy on Fri/Sat night, sometimes difficult to get a seat.

I and my compatriots were shocked to discover the Hop Pole hostelry was trading without a license to sell alcohol - the landlord said he didn't give a 4X but surely his collar must feel the firm hand of the appropriate authorities soon.

Miles ahead of spoons in service, and friendliness, could do with a bit of a re-vamp,i prefeered the old hop pole, still worth a visit.

This place is now the hop pole by the way. We went in here after spoons, at least they gave my mate two halves so he could have them in his beer hat lol (youre lucky to get a full one in spoons before last orders) Had never been down the back before but was pleasantly surprised - a really nice layout and a nice patio area, will come back here again at some point.

Only ever went in here once for an 18th birthday night out. The d**k behind the bar ID'd me, when infact he was barely out of nappies. No wonder this place cant keep up with the Litten Tree and Wetherspoons, these are far better boozers.
