user reviews of Queen Elizabeth, Chingford

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Surprised to see The QE in this listing as it doesn't, in my opinion, qualify as a pub, more a restaurant that at a price premium, happens to sell beer. When it is right the quality of the pint served is very good but the guest beers always run out at peak times, and despite this being pointed out on numerous occasions, it is viewed by the pub as a criticism, rather than an idea to be thought about and hence nothing is done about it. The bar staff are wooden, they have no interest in the product they are serving and have no idea of customer satisfaction and the constant change of Managers by the brewery/owners means the staff get no direction. It has all the qualities to be a terrific place but is actually very dissapointing unless you want a pint of Fosters and a carvery!

Hi, after visiting this pub twice a week for the last year as part of a group,I have been extremley dissap
ointed with the service given! Always a frosty reception, always run out of the beer we like. There are usually at least fifteen of us visiting every Saturday afternoon always drinking the Brewers Gold on offer, yet each week it funs out, much to our dissapointment. After all this time we decided maybe to change our 'watering hole'wanting to remain loyal we called the QE(as we fondly call it) to let them know we might be changing our venu, their response was''who did you say you were?' Hello we have been drinking here each saturday & Wednesday for the last year, you know the cyclists,''err no' well we are not coming here again!! ''Ok!' Was their reply!!!!'

Noticed the last review was some time ago so thought I'd post a new one to resssure potential visitors. I drank at this pub a few times some years ago and found it not too welcoming and not that friendly to non-regulars.

However, on a recent visit I found that this had all changed. The pub has had a makeover, includes a good range of real ales (guest always available), foreign lagers, an interesting and inexpensive menu in the restaurant plus friendly, courteous and obliging staff. Give it another try.

Absolutley awful place - soulless and empty of all character. Its only redeeming point is its location, on the edge of a particularly beautiful patch of Epping Forest.

The Jukebox & pool table here are long gone, so are most of the hardy regulars of the famous "Queen Liz pool team" who would regularly be seen drinking all day and sweeping all visiting teams before them in majestic style on the green Baize all night. It's changed a bit has the Liz. However the cracking Carvery remains, so does the outdoor seating, and it's still a great boozer for friendly weekend nights, (You have to be brave to listen to the Karaoke on a Friday though!). Usual Beers in tow, friendly bar staff & the odd sightings of pool team living legends makes this a good spot for a balmy summer evening.
