Nice enough and the Okells was a decent enough pint but pretty much a muchness as in it could be a pub in a lot of other places.

Eight years since my last visit and I'm impressed by the refurbishment. The Okells ales are well-kept and the food is delicious and freshly prepared. Well worth a visit. 9/10.

I wasn't planning to visit this pub. But it ended up being my 16th and final port of call on Saturday night, when I was flagging. Popular with a wide range of age groups, there was a pianist entertaining the crowd. A chain pub that reminds me of the Fly In the Loaf in Liverpool. The owners are the same I believe. This pub has been recently modernised and is at the centre of much of Douglas's nightlife. Okells MPA, Bitter & IPA were the ales. I believe they offer a discount for CAMRA members. But I was 'aled out' at this stage of the evening and opted for a ginger beer! I did quite like this pub.

Was a nice pub until it was done up two or three years ago.
The re-vamp not only changed the traditional pub-like feel of the place but also drastically altered the acoustics, so now when it is still half empty it is so noisy you have to shout to talk to anyone, thereby making the problem worse.
I had a truly appalling pint of Saison that I barely touched and was only about half way down my replacement pint of ordinary Okells bitter when I decided I'd had enough of the racket and left.

Large open plan pub on the quay side offering Okells Bitter at 2.60. Very much a place for the younger set on Saturday night when we visited with loud music. Bouncers on the door. Outside drinking area but only plastic glasses allowed there.
