Popped in here a couple of time before Christmas 2017 - just got round to the post; whoops!

As others have said, this building is quite something and I'd forgotten the spectacular lighting since my last visit years ago.

On the first visit, it was fairly quiet early evening and service was good. Most of us were drinking Pride and apart from one end of barrel iffy pint, it was good.

Second visit was nearer Christmas and the lighting was augmented by a staggering Christmas tree. It was quite busy though and the service went a bit haywire - no idea who to serve next apart from the person directly in line of sight. Very common and very irritating; so easy to just as 'who's next' - most punters are polite. Beer good again and nice atmosphere.

Very happy to use this pub more often.

Nice Pub/Decor, attentive staff.

However atmosphere was ruined by a group of 'next generation injury lawyers for you' who seemed to have mistook the pub for Library. In their self importantness demanded absolute quietness from everyone else !

Called in here twice in the early evening whilst on holiday. The building has been converted by Fullers into an attractive drinking environment. The mainly female staff were efficient and courteous, the Fullers ESB was in fine fettle on both visits, the price however seems expensive at 4+ a pint. I'm sure I was only paying 3.80 pint in Fullers pubs last February? On the one evening, a loud mouthed, middled aged slob, slightly ruined the atmosphere by continually using the "F" word loudly, you could hear him halfway across the room. I would have thought a supervisor should have had a quiet word in in ear! Never mind, will call in again when next in the area, let's hope the slob isn't there again!

I'm with JdeP on this one. Used to drink here a lot. The interior is still amazing.

But it is pricy even for the area, and I'm also not sure either that the beer quality is what it once was.

Resting on it's laurels somewhat IMHO.

This used to be a favourite; I went last week for the first time in several years.

The interior is of course still as impressive as ever. The main change was that it was 2/3 empty when I arrived at 5.45/6pm, and as it filled up it seem to be mainly tourists rather than lawyers and city suits.

A pint of ESB and a bottle of Sol came to 7.85, and the ESB tasted badly-kept (usually I love the stuff). Far too expensive for poor quality.
