Well I havnt been to this pub for 10 years now so we went last week and it is still as good as ever brilliant food and good beer and Peter the landlord is really friendly and a pleasure to talk too, I really do recommend this pub, it is right on the moors above post bridge so you need to drive or walk to it.
Exellent

A Dartmoor classic and one to sit out on the tables over the road to enjoy a pint with a view if you can. Beer selection let down slightly these days by the appearance of the ubiquitous Doom Bar on the pumps. They used to have Summerskills beers from what I remember of past visits. There was also an Adnams as a guest, which I thought odd as they only used to source beers from the SW. Having said this, the Otter Ale was on tip-top form - and served in a jar without having to ask, which is always nice. One person worthy of note is the waitress who deserves a medal for negotiating the road to take people's food orders to them - which on a nice day is almost every order I'd imagine.

This is an extremely isolated pub that is really for people who walk or drive. Apparently it’s the 3rd highest pub in the UK.

We stopped here on the way from Princeton to Mortonhampstead as a special' tick just for me. The pub is famous for the fire that never goes out.

3 ales on the hand pumps, my choice of Black Tor Brewery's Pride of Dartmoor was very good.

4 rooms inside laid out as follows, 1 for food, 1 bar area, 1 snug and a really large room that's also laid out for food and looks like a function room.

Lots of wooden panelling, small wall lights and a medieval style chandelier hanging in the large back bar along with a collection of plates.

Amazing views to the front across the moors, during our visit the rain stopped the sun came out and a rainbow appeared across the moor.

Absolutely brilliant! Not really a fan of the Otter, but the scrumpy cider was excellent. The pub stands completely alone on the side of the road (Moretonhampstead to Postbridge) and has a spectacular view across the moors. Beer garden in the moors, or on cold/rainy/windy days you can warm yourself by the open fire.
A perfect place for a rest. Idyllic, with lots of character, and very sociable, friendly and chatty landlord & staff. Absolutely perfect.
