please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This pub has recently been taken over by new people, apparently renowned for their cuisine skills. The meal we had this evening was a sort of home from school snack, barely a handful of chips and sad overcooked and processed haddock, no finesse whatsoever and presented with no skill. Basically it was horrible, small, and overpriced. Needless to say we are not going back but will instead visit the excellent Warren House up the road, lovely yummy hearty meals.

Previous reviewers have been unlucky (I hope) - we've always been made welcome and had good food produced in good time. Huntin' shootin' sort of place. Large wood burner with one table right in front of it - sit there and roast or anywhere else and freeze. Couple of real ales including their own brand (don't know who brews it but it may be Dartmoor at Princetown), usually in good nick but not always, try it first. Dogs allowed.

Called in for lunch & on entering the bar was greeted by a surly "No, we're fully booked", won't be attempting to go there again !

we arrived at the East Dart after a disasterous night at another inn/pub - the DArtbridge Inn and were looking for food. THis we found. As we entered the bar the landlord was bringing out the Sunday roasts and the vegetables along with the yorkshires to go with the beef. My other half advised that I was blind and the landlord and landlady were more than helpful. WE commented that we would like to stay there and were given a tour of their excellent rooms.

I would heartily recommend this inn, and would suggest that the preganant lady who has commented before was a bit forgetful!

THe ales and food are excellent and the service is always with a smile!!!!!!! And before anyone comments I can email via a specialist software etc.

we arrived at the east dart very hungry and hoping for a late lunch..it looked quite shabby on the outside, but we were lured in by the promise of 'hospitality' on the sign outside, and being heavily pregnant, when i need to eat i need to eat! We ordered a drink each and my partner ordered lunches for us both, totalling 15.20. We brought our newspapers in and sat happily reading away, patiently awaiting our lunches..and waited..and waited..and waited...my partner then went and bought himself another pint and politely enquired how long our food would be as we had been waiting nearly an hour..'what food?' was the landlord's surly response, having no recollection of the order and payment and the cook having not received the order..no apology was forthcoming and when we said we'd like our money back and not the food, the response continued to be surly and annoyed..we left at nearly 3pm, starving & outraged by the downright rudeness of the staff, and went and had a lovely meal at the restaurant at Badgers Holt.
