Really friendly lasses behind the bar and the suspicion that this was a student den was confirmed by the presence of a set of masked youths - the sorts you find in party shops and not military supply stores thankfully. 'They don't know how to keep ale there' warned one witness but our pints went down well enough. Atmospheric location near a bridge and an entrance that you'll have trouble finding.

One of the best pubs in Aberystwyth. Busy on the weekends because of the live music, and popular due to its late opening.

The prices are pretty steep, but for real ale drinkers its a good bet. There are always 3 different beers on, one being a guest ale and so constantly changing. The beer is always kept well, and served by staff who actually know how to pour it!

Must have been a while ago they had the TVs, they don't have any in there now.

They've now got TV's. Sold their soul for few geeks watching Top Gear. What will Julian Shelley think?

On a more positive note, the beer range has improved.

Not one of my favourite pubs in town, but does have the unique selling point of board games. Is the only place in town that I have been stood outside waiting for it to open, and on a Sunday. Has some good beers and an excellent beer garden for summer drinking.

No MILD here but it does have four real ales on offer. Background music was a pleasant blues rock CD. The outdoor courtyard with view of the river is a good point.
