Black Country Ales pub in the centre of Wolverhampton, which was one of very few to open at lunchtime on New Year's Day. I was relatively impressed. There was a decent beer selection on, despite it apparently being a late night session, the evening before. The range was Mobberley Brewhouse Solstice, Beowulf Dark Raven, Downton Hopoholic, Newbridge Solaris, Black Country Ales Fireside, BFG & Pig On The Wall, Oakham JHB & Salopian Lemon Dream. The real cider was Thistly Cross Whisky Cask. I'll look forward to returning here.

Typical Black Country Ales Pub. Large choice of relatively unheard of breweries from anywhere in the UK.

Surprised to see a household name brew in Purtity Mad Goose on offer. Looked fantastic. Smelt not so good.

Good pubby experience and I would come back.

In a town of QEII proportioned theme pubs and dire Wetherspoons, I'm told that this is where you should go on a visit to the city. Good - with a great range of interesting ales - I had a half of a raspberry wheat beer (this was ale and not anything like a Belgian Frambozen). Friendly service and a few old lags were propping up the bar of a Monday lunchtime.

Excellent pub with a choice of good-value and very well kept real ales. Cosy and relaxing atmosphere with efficient service. A 'must visit' when in Wolverhampton. 10/10.

Definitely concur with the previous comment.

This gem and the Great Western are a must for any real ale aficionado in Wolverhampton.
