Reasonable enough town pub with a few ales on plus a fridge with a varied bottle selection. had the West berks Good Old Boy (a nice clear pint unlike the unadulterated filth masquerading as said same beer from the Scotch Stores at Kings Cross).

I hadn't planned on coming here. But I was drawn by a mention of the place in the local CAMRA magazine, where it mentioned that there were 12 ciders. There were a fair few ciders polycasks and boxes behind the bar. But only 2 had any cider in them - Westons Hand Brake & Orchard Pig Philosopher. The ale range was better - Loddon Hullabaloo, Hook Norton Hooky, West Berkshire Good Old Boy, Binghams The Warmer & Wild Weather Hubcap Halo. The place was fairly packed and it was lively. So despite the false hope for ciders, it's clearly a popular place and one to look out for.

As a previous reviewer indicated, this used to be a very uncomfortable pub to visit (for various reasons). What a difference! Smart and clean, friendly guv'nor, and with 9 real ales (mainly from local and/or independant breweries), 5 still ciders - it's a pub "crawl" all on its own! Huge selection of pies with good choice of accompaniments but be warned, the "Spicy Slaw" IS spicy!! Having totally transformed this pub, I hope it's a great success for you, Warwick.

Amazing selection not only of draft ales but also of bottles from all over Europe. Wonderful food too (and not expensive) - mainly pies. Delicious. The food service is a bit slow, requiring you to order an extra round of drinks, but maybe that's the intention?!

This used to be a dark and dingy and slightly disreputable boozer in the Market Place. In the last year it has been transformed into a smart modern real ale pub. At least 5 real ales were on handpump including Green Bullet and TBA from the Sherfield brewery. I started with a pint of the latter but it was too earthy for my taste, so I moved on to the Roundhead bitter from the local Two Cocks brewery which was excellent. Friendly landlord and a nice mixed clientele. This pub is a must for any real ale tour of the town.
