Still well worth a visit for the changing variety of guest beers. The pub has been praised for the quality of its toilets being awarded a platinum star in the Loo of the Year Awards!

Above-average, tidy Wetherspoons. Three (interesting) real ciders on draught at last visit, which other local pubs could learn from. Bar service none too fast, but then 'Spoons never is.

Well what can you say about another establishment owned and run by a huge 'pub' chain? Well it is a nice place to be in. It's unique style and design encapsulates 'Witney life' with sculptural and framed references to the local landscape etc. It is a good atmosphere- carpets, mood lighting, deep seating and lots of it. Nice toilets, good staff. But it really is NOT a pub, it's a place to get pissed with your mates from college or if you're a alcoholic old person, well the same but on your own. Without JD wetherspoon's tv's and radios it really means people are talking to each-other more which is the way it should really be so that is a good thing about it. I've also heard the food isn't bad too!

The Company of Weavers is pretty good. JD Wetherspoon has done a great job in their adaptation of the former cinema. The pub retains cheerful features of the cinema (note the foot-worn holes in front of where the ticket office used to be) and references throughout to what was once the staple (apologies) industry of Witney, weaving. The black, yellow, red and blue stripes used in the local blankets are to be found everywhere, even in the toilets! There is a good choice of beers. Iíve had lovely pints of Deuchers IPA and Sadlerís Hop Bomb here, at only £2.20, and a great pint of Thatchers Gold at £2.30. The food is great value for money, i.e. very acceptable quality at low prices, though they could serve it hotter by warming the plates. Staff are really friendly. Happy mixed crowd of customers: college students, mums with children, old geezers, WI-members-who-lunch, and pensioners in for the specials.

We have been waiting for many years for Wetherspoons to open an establishment in Witney and now they have taken over the former Palace cinema . Was it worth it? Probably not; they advertise real ale but only a couple seem to be available, ie Abbot (at £2.40, which is hardly cheap). They seem more interested in selling lager to yobs. And although I gave them considerable help on behalf of the Witney & District Museum we have received no thanks whatsoever.
