user reviews of the Big Chill, Bristol

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I popped in one afternoon and I liked to decor, but although I didn't expect there to be any ales on, the bottled range was just terrible across the board. Awful 'cider' based sugar drinks, low quality lager, no wheat beer, and nothing interesting at all.

An ok place to spend an hour-silly prices for glasses of wine and limited ales on-nice atmosphere, a bit like Start the Bus for ambience

Interesting bar tucked away in Small Street. The seating is unusual with lots of soft blocks to sit on. Not all that comfy for someone of my age without a backrest, and the tables being too low to lean on. There were a few conventional tables and benches as well, which is just as well since they do food.

The left hand wall is plastered with album covers, none from bands that Id ever heard of, but it was interesting to look at. It was reasonably quiet on a recent Wednesday night visit, but I imagine its the sort of place that would get rammed with a young crowd later on and/or at the weekends. Musics obviously a big thing with an area at the front that looks as though it could double up as a dance floor as well as a DJ console and several large speakers around the place.

Unfortunately no real ales on tap, although they did have Thatchers Gold cider and Symonds Founders Reserve which Ive not come across before.
