A very nice pint of Skinners Betty Stoggs was quaffed here back in June, if you can make it by dodging the opening hours and the train times you will be pleasantly surprised i think, 7/10

Strictly old-fashioned opening hours but a truly excellent pub when the doors do open. Very friendly with great food and the rack of well-kept ales behind the bar is a reminder of a bygone age.

Highly recommended.

An old traditional compact inn (18th, maybe 17th century) with character, a real log fire burned in the large fireplace open stove when I visited. Four real ales were available to be drawn from casks at the back of the bar - my choice tasted delicious, must come back to try the other ales. My food was also very good, the other customers seemed to be regulars judging by their conversations with the landlord. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food from a good selection which was reasonably priced. Service was prompt and cheerful. Great to find a proper pub serving good ales and food.
