Upmarket country pub overlooking the village church. I sat in the main bar, which is clearly an old barn. At the rear, there must be a function room, as there were wedding guests appearing. There is also accommodation. The bar has lots of implements hanging from the ceiling and an array of different seating back on the ground. Board games are located in one corner. The regular ales were Oakham JHB, Grainstore Red Kite. Timothy Taylor Landlord was a guest and they also had Rutland Cider Company Rutland, which I took advantage of. Quite expensive for these part. But a nice pub, nonetheless.

Not been in the White Hart for a few years so thought I'd pop in on my way home from work. Really quite like it. No Ufford Ales unfortunately, but the Abbeydale Absolution was spot on Nice, relaxed atmosphere with no music - just the murmur of conversation. Not sure why I left it so long !

Having to stop at Peterborough services on the A1 and needing refreshment, this GBG 2011 listed pub with it's promise of local ales and fine food was the obvious choice. The exterior gives an up-market impression, which is in some respects seems to be the aim of the place. The decor is clean, modern and ordered although it looked rather like it came straight out of a 'pub-fitters' catalogue. That said, it actually suits the place and doesn't detract from the main points which are the beer and the food.

On my visit there were three Ufford Ales on, the White Hart Bitter, Ruperts War Dog and Golden Drop. All three were excellent, although the White Hart Bitter was my personal favourite and happily the pub offers a beer carry-out service, so I was able to enjoy a couple of pints at my destination later that evening! Prices were also fine at 2.90 a pint. As for the food, I ordered the roast beef and presented with a hearty and tasty plateful that I thoroughly enjoyed. Food prices are a tad on the expensive side for a pub, but I didn't begrudge it as the quality was top notch.

All in all a good place to visit if you're in the area as either a place to sample some fine ales, or treat yourself/a friend to a jolly good meal, with the added interest of a brewery in the car park!

Part of Mick Thurlby's empire - in Stamford he owns the Periwig and the Tobie Norris, and part-owns the Crown Hotel, but Ufford is a good 6 miles outside the town - and in Cambridgeshire. A well-appointed (and pricey) hostelry nevertheless, and well worth a visit. In my experience the beer has always been good, and I'd rather pay a little extra for a good pint than try to drink cheap vinegar.

Great beer range. Light., hoppy and fresh tasting. Cleary a very well kept cellar. And the food was exceptionally good. The Lincoln Red beef from a local farm has pride of place on the menu and deservedly so. Staff pleasant enough but not very well trained or professional. Well worth a visit all the same
