Monopoly?

Black Flag, Bearded, Driftwood Spar, Sharps, Skinner's, Padstow.

Just a few of the many successful Cornish breweries.

Good to see a free house at last to escape the St. Austell brewery monopoly of cornwall.

From the outside it doesn't look all the attractive but however the back bar is cosy once inside.

We had a decent basket size lunch in here which was very nice and even my pint of Doom bar was of a good standard too.

9/10

Stayed here for a few days while exploring the area. Great small hotel! Sharp's Doom Bar and Cornish Coaster plus local Polgoon cider. Very good food with themed nights. Curry night, £8-95 plus a drink, was a winner!

This building is a bit like a 'Tardis' being larger on the inside than it looks from the exterior.

The one bar is at the rear of the building serving a small range of beers. My pint of 'Bay' was good. Friendly service and a small friendly group of people in the bar.

Leading off the bar area are at least two further rooms which, (at the time of my early evening visit), had quite a few people eating in them, so presumably the food is good.

Nothing special but still worth popping in if passing.

Feast weekend and our first visit to St Just. Terry at the Commercial made us so welcome. Betty Stoggs was on top form and the food was brilliant. Roasts are very big. Lively and relaxed atmosphere...aided by a good Juke Box. Despite the long train journey from London this is definitely a town to revisit.
