user reviews of Spread Eagle, Rochdale

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Spread Eagle is a pub that is looking a bit tatty. There was no real ale and the restaurant was closed. However, there was a good atmosphere and a good range of ages in the pub early on a Saturday evening. There was football on which may have helped!

This is a pub that I and many of my school friends used to frequent when we were much younger and there were a couple of 21st parties held in the upstairs room. Its a nice looking black and white timbered building, inside theres a small snug to the left as you enter and a large restaurant area to the right that never seems to get busy these days and is closed at night. Straight ahead is the main lounge. Its getting very shabby in here these days and doesnt look to have had much done to it in the past 30 years. The clientele are older than most pubs in the town centre and it looked a bit like a grab a granny night on Friday. There was a karaoke rig set up in the main lounge run by a Booby Ball lookalike. He was playing Bucks Fizz greatest hits when I was in!! There are two handpumps on the bar but as far as I am aware they havent been used for years. Its a pretty poor place at the moment and isnt worth a visit, unless you like Bucks Fizz and grannies of course.
