Staying locally we enjoyed a mid-week evening visit for a meal - the burger, and fish and chips - which were both tasty and with large portions, if a bit pricey. The staff were friendly and attentive, a little over-attentive perhaps and they seemed to want to push their special deals on us despite telling them we're unlikely to return as we're not local. There's a cosy garden area out the back where we sat after our meal with another drink as it was rather warm inside (no air conditioning?) following a hot day.

Maybe do a 3rd review it will be less suspicious...

visited this place again when the landlord generously opened his doors early to allow my girlfriend to clean herself up after falling off her bike going down the massive hill which precedes the approach to the pub. Very helpful and even invited us to a party the following month. Good range of ales. I had the 6X

A delightful pub, steeped in history and a good range of ales. I had a nice pint of Spring Top and they also had Aspall's cider on tap. Also had a delightful little bar snack of Breaded Brie and Fruit Chutney

Mixed feelings about this place. Literally all staff were Eastern European, hardly a 'village local' like it so desperately wants to be... I hope this isn't reported for being "rayciss". The food was good, had Doombar so not complaining. 7/10
