While perusing the menu outside at the pub entrance a staff member appeared and insisted we enter. So we did and got a drink. But we quickly decided against eating here after observing the tiny portions being served and the high prices. Also we felt we were bullied at the door to enter, so a thumbs down from us too.

A very pretentious place and felt uncomfortable sitting in there as a mere drinker. Had a decent range of ales, I had the British Bulldog

The a la carte menue may be expensive here but we have had 5 fixed price lunches that have been really good; imaginative food well presented; attentive staff; good atmosphere inside and a lovely garden when it is sunny; small selection of beers but that has not been the main reason for our visit; our latest visit was VERY BAD however - perhaps because the manager was not there. We waited over 15 minutes to order - it would have been much longe but we went in search of a member of staff - they all seemed to be busy sorting out knives and spoons; the first course (risotto) took another 15 minutes to arrive and was almost cold; although the place was only a quarter full the main course took 45 minutes to arrive, only after asking when would it arrive; when it did arrive one duck breast was dry and overdone and another was so raw that we asked for it to go back to the kitchen for more cooking; the veg. looked pretty but again were not hot; we had no time for a pudding. Go at your peril!

Lovely building and decor. Nice ambience and polite staff but oh the rip off food. No main course under 14 which wouldn't be so much of an issue but the portions are unbelievable minute. Delicious yes, but hardly more than a few mouthfulls. 14 for a snack is totally unacceptable, even a tasty snack. I fail to understand the logic of pubs like this. The meat may be high quality and expensive but what would an extra few spoonfuls of mash potato or veg cost? The main cost of providing a pub meal is staffing and premises. Why ruin an experience for the sake of pennies? Should one really be leaving a restaurant/pub wondering where the nearest takeaway is?

Had a quick Drink in here on Saturday Evening out of curiosity, we had booked for Dinner in our own local and were picking up Friends. Its not a Pub and in my opinion very uncomfortable didn't rate the atmosphere and from what I saw of the Food it is way overpriced, I witnessed a Customer staring at his Plate as if to say 'is that it ?' Doubt we will return for a Meal anytime soon !
