user reviews of the Phoenix, Ashford

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Good food, atmosphere is generally ok although it does tend to be packed on Friday, Saturday nights. Beer pricing has gone up in there but Ashford is quite expensive to drink in anyway.

As someone said there is a weird layout but they have improved the number of screens now so this layout doesnt effect anything if you like to watch sport.

One of the better bars in town but there is not a jukebox and there isnt a pool table which I feel would have added to the pub as the music is strangely balanced and I feel if they could get a decent jukebox in there with wide range of music would improve the score no end.

I agree with MankyBadger about the door staff, they could be more welcoming, and the place does have a strange feel. But it's clean, fairly bright and the bar staff are pretty good.

On the busy nights it tends to attract an odd mix of people, but the atmosphere isn't too bad.

In it's favour they have Sentanta Sports and therefore show football the other pubs in town don't (at the moment), and the food's not bad.

Been there a couple of times. If you like Euro-fizz, then it's passable.
On the plus side, it's clean. On the minus side the bouncers seem quite intimidating and the place... how can I best describe it? A futuristic youth club is perhaps the closetest I can get.
