| Pleased to say this pub is well and truly open.. we visited on a sunny late April day at around 5pm. Cars can park in front of the pub. Upon entering bar is to right and restaurant to left. The bar is quite rustic, but plenty of friendly locals. Because the day was so glorious, and we have a dog we asked if there was a beer garden. The lady behind the bar pointed us either through the restaurant, or through a passage behind the bar… WOW, there certainly is a beer garden! With probably as good a view of Northumberland as there is… rolling countryside down to the River Coquet and the moody Simonside hills beyond. Restaurant is lovely with huge panoramic window and sliding doors. Two cask ales, but only Purity Gold on when we visited. A nice pint though.. we’ll certainly be back.. | A great place with a friendly atmosphere. The ales are well kept and reasonably priced, and the bar menu is extensive and reasonably priced (and it helps that the food is quick to arrive). The staff are friendly and efficient and you don't even get the locals all staring at you when you arrive. A truly great pub that I wish was my local. Sadly, it's almost 380 miles away from where I live, but I'm already looking forward to my next visit on holiday next year. While I was there a lot of other holidaymakers arrived who were making return visits, all were greeted with a "nice to see you again!" I don't know exactly what it is but this place has it.
