The one positive thing to say is at least JDW are consistent - even in leafy Surrey.

Packed solid with pissed up boozers at lunch time on a Saturday, including one very loud gentlemen in sports gear.

Two tables unoccupied - both filthy.

So why come? Well, its in the Good Beer Guide so thought I'd get a tick. The real crime here is the real ale was very poor. First pint died during pulling. 2nd, a Windsor Knot - was hazy and lifeless. Unsurprising, as in a packed pub, everyone else was on lager.

4 star - and they were for the food - which was quick, cheap and decent.

Called here last evening for a meal, about 7pm. And left quickly, as the majority of the tables had not beem cleared after use* - whether because of laziness or staff shortage, or both.

Pretty much your typical Spoons. Service is generally quite slow and the place could do with a good clean. Being next to Morrison's parking is never a problem.

I have occasionally used this pub in the past and it does depend at what time of day one chooses to visit. It's a large establishment with seating outside and during morning weekdays it's quite pleasant for a Wetherspoons, largely because it's possible to move away from any old plonkers who may be in attendance.
During the evening, however, it becomes the favoured location for fat females with tattoos and baby buggies accompanied by their equally fat and tattooed male counterparts wearing the ubiquitous baseball cap.
Oxted used to be a nice little country town inhabited by well turned out people but the barbarians broke through the economic barrier some time ago and Wetherspoons was their inevitable destination.

Bit Like a Fish Bowl, typical Spoons but better than most, depends on what time of Day you visit as to level of Service, food has much improved
