| Visited on a Monday night. Stranger in town. The couple running it are new to this locale. Of the pubs I tried that evening, they were the most friendly and welcoming, despite being busy. My beer, 6X, was in excellent condition and well priced. The menu is wide ranging and aggressively priced. It's good "pub fare". The food was of a high quality, well portioned, and promptly served. | went to eat on Saturday 15th 2012 unfortunately chef must have had a bad night. The food that was served was of very poor standard. Starter was so overcooked the mushrooms kept shooting off the plate, pork dish with cream and brandy sauce was just about ediblle only pork medallions were very tough, drinks order was wrong when we arrived, stilton sauce was like watery milk and was served after we had finished the steak didn't even try to eat that and chips were overcooked. And we waited a long time in between courses. All in all very disappointing and only took 4.00 off the bill. We shan't be eating there again which is a shame because the food used to be good. | I have never been to this pub but I do intend to go soon just say THANK YOU !!! for the last 4years. If there is anywhere that this country can be proud of it is Wootton Bassett. If nothing more than just the warmth of the people who reach out and hold our boys and their families close in a silent honour before letting them pass on a road of tears and roses.
