Remember this is the same company that had a mysterious fire at the Beaufort Arms which is now all housing......................

Burnt down this week part way through renovations. Will be interesting to see if it reopens!

Visited on a Monday night. Stranger in town.
The couple running it are new to this locale. Of the pubs I tried that evening, they were the most friendly and welcoming, despite being busy.
My beer, 6X, was in excellent condition and well priced.
The menu is wide ranging and aggressively priced.
It's good "pub fare".
The food was of a high quality, well portioned, and promptly served.
The pub itself consists of 2 bars and several cosy to larger rooms off of a main corridor.
It is clean and warm throughout.

went to eat on Saturday 15th 2012 unfortunately chef must have had a bad night. The food that was served was of very poor standard. Starter was so overcooked the mushrooms kept shooting off the plate, pork dish with cream and brandy sauce was just about ediblle only pork medallions were very tough, drinks order was wrong when we arrived, stilton sauce was like watery milk and was served after we had finished the steak didn't even try to eat that and chips were overcooked. And we waited a long time in between courses. All in all very disappointing and only took 4.00 off the bill. We shan't be eating there again which is a shame because the food used to be good. But as they say restaurant only as good as it's chef!

I have never been to this pub but I do intend to go soon just say THANK YOU !!! for the last 4years. If there is anywhere that this country can be proud of it is Wootton Bassett. If nothing more than just the warmth of the people who reach out and hold our boys and their families close in a silent honour before letting them pass on a road of tears and roses. God Bless the Cross Keys for their hospitality and the wonderful people of this tiny heaven on earth. Our Country thank you all xxxxxxxxxxxi

Interesting pub, obviously an old coaching inn judging from all the separate rooms around a central passageway, fine pint of Otter ale, but a bit rough not somewhere to bring your Mum.

This pub welcomes bereaved relatives and supports repatriations. The whole country is proud of the way you and your village show support on our behalf...THANK YOU!
Everyone who appreciates their local, appreciates how important your role is.
I wish I could score you an 11!

This place has nurtured a reputation for catering sympathetically to Wootton Bassett's tragic new visitors - the friends and relatives of our fallen military.

However, as a pub, it has it's own tragedy. The beer quality is pretty dreadful, The toilets are often dirty and unmaintained. Bar service is slow and often only grudgingly offered and the locals including staff, have a habit of ignoring aspects of the smoking ban. ,

Sad. A formerly decent pub sliding steadilly downhill.

Today I found in the Cross Keys the true meaning of the BRITISH SPIRIT.I joined many more subjects of this country to pay respect to the eight young men who recently died in the service of their country.Prior to the passing of the cortege I spent quite a long time talking to people in the Cross Keys.Coffee, Tea and biscuits were made freely available to all and the courtesy and kindness shown by the staff to everyone made a sad occasion more bearable.Your staff are to be congratulated on their professional but kindly manner and their perfect dealings with young and old alike.I will recommend your establishment to all and will most certainly return to enjoy a meal with you all.Thank you for the happy memory I now have of today.

I really like the Cross Keys. 17th Century coaching inn with a youthful touch. I like to sit in the penny bar (the bar surface is a layer of polished pre-decimal pennies) with a cup of filter coffee in the mornings.

After being closed for a couple of weeks the Pub has re-opened still with Kirsty at the helm.
No longer having quiz nights but these may be reinstated. Some changes to the beer stocked but still nicely kept.
Large covered area at the rear for the smokers and a function room available for free use.
All in all The Cross Keys still ranks as one of the finest boozers in the locale and is well worth a visit.
(Afternoon slow service no longer an issue!)
