Plain locals pub set back behind a brick wall, looks quite drab and unwelcoming from the exterior, no sign outside making it look closed! Friendly enough landlord, staff and locals but some can be a bit rowdy at times. Beer is reasonably kept Sam Smith's offerings at bargain prices. No food served. Children not welcome. Pleasant enough interior with real fire, no music so conversation is king! Check it out if you are passing by.

Its been refurbished recently. A fine job too! Well set out with making some extra walls here and there to enable a bit more intimacy and cut down on any echoes .
The beer [Smiths Old Brewery Bitter] I had today was bang on form and at 1.39 a pint too!
New bar staff and polite professional and friendly.
Well done Sam Smiths.

A typical Sam Smiths pub. It does need a bit of refurbishment but not too much to take away its real pub authenticity.
When we wlked in a hush descended and my first thoughts were of the "Slaughtered lamb" in the film "American Werewolf in London".
The friendly and skillful landlady soon diffused that by announcing "You've all suddenly gone quiet!" " Do you think they're after your money?"

This broke the ice and we could tell they were a friendly bunch really but probably not used to seeing new faces on a Saturday afternoon!.....We hoped we werent sitting in anyone's seat by the way!

Lovely Sam Smiths beer and well kept and served. Nice and local people in the pub who I know were a gentle if down to earth bunch.

Great prices of course.

I would and will come back here for a few beers soon.

Shame that Humphrey {prop of Sam Smiths} does'nt advertise his beers on the outside of his pubs.

I don't really know why people avoid Sam Smiths beers either. Is it some kind of snob value due to the low price or do they really dislike it?
This is in a John Smith's stronghold area. Its amazing what advertising can do isnt it? People will eat or drink owt if the image is portayed ...I mean yuk! ...John Smiths is like cold bland tea isnt it?

I am giving a higher rating at least for the price and quality of the beer and for the friendly service.

I notice someone has commented that this pub isn't child friendly. Too right, and all the better for that. A typical Sam's house with wonderful beer at real prices. It's definately a locals pub but in Featherstone what can you expect?

A comfortable pub but needs updating. No music and no food. A few tables outside but in a car park rather than a garden. Not child friendly (unless sitting in the car park).

There is a general knowledge quiz on Wednesdays but the same teams win every week so it gets boring.

The place needs an overall makeover and some atmosphere!
