Changed hands a few times since it was rebuilt in 2008. Currently only a food pub, fine dining.... popped in for a pint and got turned away, as I wasn''t having a meal. Landlord has attitude. Definitely not a drinkers pub anymore.

Steve and Dawn have been here for just over a year as I write and the pub is warm and welcoming. Having been all-but demolished it was rebuilt and then after that we never knew if it was open or shut. Following that transition period it is thriving again and our congratulations go to mine hosts. (We have been going here for over 30 years btw) Excellent few pints of Butcombe as the Otter had sold out following a sudden exceptional demand. Food looks and smells good too.

Hi there, As the new landlord at the White Post I am happy to inform everyone that this lovely little place will be open again by the end of September 2010. My name is Steve and my wife is Dawn, together with Lewis and Miles our children we will be happy to see you all when we get the doors open. The plan is not to change a great deal except to return it to the country pub it always used to be. The restaurant will be served by a Carvery and great homecooked blackboard specials, all at great prices. Beer wise is upto you the regulars, im very happy to put in what you want and like. The ensuite rooms upstairs will be decorated and made ready for the pub opening at very resonable rates. Our new telephone number is 01935 851525 and we plan to open from 11:00 till 23:00 7 days a week. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Fantastic news that the doors are open again and all seems well from the comments here.
I too got wrong footed by the winter opening hours and we had to return to Sherborne and our usual haunt the Crown.
Good to read the landlord is making a big effort and trying to please everyone. Not an easy task as often you end up pleasing no one when on that tack. However, im going to make a point of heading in there next time I am in the UK and the Sherborne area.
