| Popped into here on the way from Oldfield Park Station to Twerton Park, and was really impressed by the friendliness of the landlord and the local I chatted to at the bar. It's a bit invidious comparing it to the Royal Oak - it's not trying to be the Royal Oak. But what it does, it does well. | To PeoplesPalace, you may not wish to hear that it has been sold and is currently being renovated, but you needn't be put off! It is now a Free House, with beers priced accordingly. The new landlady and landlord are keen and have listened to the locals when making changes and bringing in beers. It is a friendly pub as you say, and the opening hours have been extended.
