user reviews of the Peacock Inn, Shrewsbury

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The restuarant seems to open and close at the landlords whim, but if you are unlucky enough to find it open don't bother, the food is abysmal, we saw scruffy kitchen staff, the tables were sticky and not clean, the general impression was that the whole pub needs a good spring clean and the staff, we saw kitchen staff carrying Iceland bags full of snack food into the kitchen, this was food for a private party, which they seem to do a lot of being close to the local crematorium. My one point was for the ale, although we had to send one dirty glass back, such a disappointing place

we travelled from church stretton to this pub in time for service , the ale was good , nice young staff , .
the food arrived and it was appaling .
i had what looked like a kipper which was supposed to be bass with a orange sauce .
my partners battered fish was equally disgusting , we left 90% of our food and left
NEVER AGAIN ... NEVER
it only got a rating 2 because the ale was ok

The Peacock has always been a great pub but now with a refurbished interior things have just got better. Serving great food at reasonable prices offering a choice of real ales and also bingo/quizzes if that is your scene.(couldn`t park on the car park last week on quiz night-very popular.!! Also offers all sport channels and the landlord/lady are great!
Make a visit you won`t be disappointed!!

Marstons Pub. Reasonable beer, reasonable food. Don't go out of your way, but if you're in the area, drop in.
