The Highbury is tucked away in a residential area with a chip shop opposite. It was fairly quiet on my early Saturday evening visit with only a handful of other customers. The ale range was limited to Sharps Doom Bar, St Austell Tribute and possibly Moorhouses Summer Yarn. Although the latter's clip was half turned round. So I'm not sure it was still on and I didn't partake. Nothing too special about this pub. blue_scrumpy - 22 Jun 2015 20:12 |
This pub has just been newly refurbished and under new management who are well known around the area. Frank and Collette formerly of the Selly Park Tavern. It is a hidden dual in Stirchley. The staff are all welcoming and friendly. They welcome families and serve food everyday with a good range of affordable and delicious meals. They have sky Sports and screen Live football, as well as having Live bands on regular occasions. There is also a spacious function room that is available to hire for any occasion. This pub has dramatically improved since a few months ago and I shall be using it as my new local. xxmelissakxx - 29 Aug 2013 15:29 |
Reasonable down to earth locals' pub with one real ale, staff ok, usual mix of locals, dog was allowed in provided it behaved itself (although they often won't in a strange place). The pub has a Moseley postcode but the address is given - accurately - as Moor Green, which is a very small (and mostly parkland) area between Moseley, Kings Heath, and Selly Park rainlight - 24 Oct 2011 16:42 |
I first went in The Highbury 27 years ago and at that time was a regular every Sunday lunchtime in the lounge to read the papers and a lot of evenings too. A quiet pub, mainly because there were few customers and when I went in about three years ago after a gap of many years - it was almost deserted. alexromanov - 28 Sep 2007 23:12 |
i have only utilised the bar side of this pub, so cannot say what the family lounge is like. however, the bar side has a good down to earth pubby feel to it. the beer selection although not very extensive is kept well and served with a genuine non corperate smile. it is always a good sign to see the owner in a pub, especially one that says hello and goodbye and not just to regulars. the pool tables are well balanced and there is a reasonable amount of room around them. one nice touch are the daily general knowledge questions chalked up by the bar. slugboy - 28 Jan 2007 06:10 |
