Top quality real ale. Really very good indeed.
Usually three different brews which change regularly. I have never, ever had a bad pint. They are always willing to give you a taste and offer advice.
As I am very picky I will point out that the cellar is not heated, so if you go there when its freezing outside and you like your beer at room temperature, you need to let it stand for a bit - but it sure is worth the wait. (In winter I usually start off with a pale ale which can stand a bit of chilling)
The price is pretty good too - the nearest pub charges 20% more for keg rubbish.

I highly recommend the beer festival each year in September - stay and sight see by day (but not the nessie museum, please!) and drink by night - lovely !

As a pub, I agree with the other reviews : good atmosphere, good food, friendly helpful staff, etc.

This is my favourite pub which is why I give it a ten.
Shame its in the Highlands when I live in South London.
Maybe I should move.

The best pub for craic and real ale in the area.

Just had a very enjoyable two night stay here with friendly staff. Good food, for which you will need to book a table if you wish to eat in the lounge. Four hand pumps, dispensing quality real Ale, not all to my taste, but that is why you have four of them. The beer was turning over very quickly so not long long to wait to try another brew. Apparently work has started on their own Micro brewery. Highly recommend the place.

I got a really warm wlecome having made a lo of effort to get here. The beer was absolutely magic, didn't eat and I agree the decor is basic - but what theHell, I went there to drink real beer, nto admire the soft furnishings.

Most definitely worth a visit and I will certainly go back.

Arriving on our holiday on the last day of the annual beer festival we had high hopes......but were disappointed.

The pub is very basic, which is certainly not bad ; we got an nice welcome as well, but the four different pints we tried were just acceptable , nothing more.

We (three real ale drinkers) gave it another try a week later and ended up with the same result leaving after just one pint.

Maybe it got worse in the last two years or it is just overrated.
