The barman was clearly unhappy at having to break off his conversation to serve us. Pint of Ringwoods was too cold. We found better pubs during our stay in the New Forest where our custom was appreciated.

Great pub. Lovely and relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Also very dog friendly. Was a great day to visit on a wet day with people to talk to and a love open fire. A place you feel you could relax in all day if you did not have to drive home. Beer was good. Food menu looked inviting but we were eating later on in day so did not try. They have dog friendly accommodation so we hope to go back next year probably.

Fantastic pub - as someone else said, the local you wish was your local. Really wonderful, helpful, friendly but down-to-earth staff, great grub - foodie without being poncy - roaring log fires, big garden, resident gorgeous dog and many friendly regulars (and their dogs, and the occasional donkey or owl!) Very relaxing, board games by the fire and a chat with the locals - who could beat that? And before it all sounds too butch, fresh flowers everywhere too! Couldn't be nicer (until they put in another heated smokers area at the back when it'll be evne better for me - great to have one already there but maybe needs a few plant pots or summat until then?) Can't wait to go back. Oh and amazing rooms for B&B with best brekkie by the fire - sigh!

I am surprised that I have never left a review about the Turfcutters before. Over the years we have used this pub 100's of times.

Top pub with good quality food & extensive menu, well above the usual fare on offer at many other establishments & at sensible prices. Last Sunday most of us choose the Venison stew with dumplings. Really excellent.

The range of beers is not too exciting, but adequate. Ringwood best, 49'er & Doom Bar. The plus side is that it is very well kept, never had a bad pint there.

Another big plus is the New Zealand landlord. Great character who usually takes time to move through the tables for a chat with the clients. He even managed to smile after the All Blacks defeat
at the weekend.

Now a tip if you dinning on a cold day. Book a table on the bar side of the pub which has a large open fire. The dinning rooms to the left of the door as you enter can get rather chilly.

Thats my only gripe. This is a pub full of character, dogs & locals. If you want chrome bar fittings, a flat screen tv & a pool table choose another pub.

I love it. My rating 8.5

Found this one by accident when driving - there was a hand painted sign half buried in the hedgerow! Very nice little country pub. Beer, ambience and service all very good. Foodwise I have to slightly disagree with most other reviewers. My gammon with all the trimmings was first rate but my wife's Spanish vegetable quiche was almost completely devoid of vegetables and was also very undercooked. To be fair it did look bought in rather than home made so its deficiencies may have gone unnoticed. Certainly not deterred from visiting again.
