Called for luncheon this day with the Lady Wife. Pre-luncheon tincture - a little heavy on the angostura (one would suppose that the foreign johnnie behind the bar had never been asked for a pink gin before !?!?)
The fried fish adorned with french fried potatoes was not, however, without merit.
Poor selection of port and no madeira on offer.
Would call again on the strength of the victuals.
I remember, when I was serving in India, when a bar wallah would have been horse whipped if he had been over generous with the bitters....Still we had an Empire in those days.

I have used this pub for many a year, food has improved over recent years but beer not that good, ideal for a meal out.

This place is all about food. my aged mother likes it ! Which probably means that it is more of a Joe Lyons than a pub.

Went here on 2nd February (evening) and was rather disappointed to see that it is now a Beefeater (place was packed). The food was ok but nothing special, which is a real shame as it used to do very good food and a great variety. Won't be visiting again!
