Taken over by John and Becky from Hall and Woodhouse and run as a free house until purchasing it and making it their own, to the delight of the locals in this charming village (if you ignore the oft heavy traffic) We sincerely hope it will remain at the standard they have set for themselves. Now in the GBG where I believe it will be a fixture, as it deserves to be. Very nice skittle alley and function room, rare Dorset game of Drubbers also played.

Very disappointed with this establishment. I took my grandchildren for the walk advertised by the Brewery.
Really good walk that was just over two hours. Needless to say we were all hungry and thirsty when we had finished our walk.
I took the children into the pub and ordered some soft drinks that came to just over £11.
There were about six people in the pub and no one whatsoever in the back garden which had at least ten tables.
I asked the landlord if we could sit discreetly in the back garden and eat a sandwich we had brought with us. He said "I'd rather you didn't" so we went into the field where we had started our walk and ate there. I realise the pub is there to make a living but I am a pensioner and thought the landlord might show some kindness and let us just sit and eat our sandwich as there wasn't anyone around to see. I could of sat at the back without asking but that's not in my nature. A little kindness would have gone a long way but what a disappointment!! I certainly will not recommend this place to my friends or go there again myself. Please take note anyone going on the Brewery walk.

New landlord and lady and great new chef.
They are just trying to rebuild the reputation of this delightful country pub and they are doing well in our eyes.
As locals we popped in today - Sunday - to try out the new menu etc.. Good enough starter we shared. excellent main each - my wife's chicken roast was too much for her so both me and dog had a bonus.
And if you like desserts - homemade and not Brake Bros homemade then don't miss the delights Carl, the new chef, specialises in.
Why only 9/10 - just a bit off my favourite mouth-burning temperature - but the pub was busy....

A local from Longburton.... looking forward to my/our next scoff...

Having just returned from Afghanistan me and my two mates, went for a well deserved pub crawl through the Dorset countryside. Totally by accident we came across The Rose and Crown with its warm, friendly atmosphere, roaring fire, notable absence of TVs showing sport and the warm welcome everyone gets, its fair to say "nothing beats a good old traditional pub, beating at the heart of the community"

We arrived at lunchtime and left the following morning, to our delight the pub served great home produced food by a very cheerfull ex Army Chef, great beer (Fox and Firkin) and a B & B at the back of the pub.

All in a great pub, great staff and looking foward to visiting again very soon.

Our Granddaughter was christened yesterday at the church next door and the celebration meal was held in the pub. We were made very welcome and the food was excellent - beautifully presented and plenty for everyone, so different to our Grandson's christening 3 years previously when the landlord was disinterested, there was not enough food for our guests and what was there was uninviting and tasteless. So glad our son and daughter-in-law decided to try once more with the new people (Kevin & Mandy), we will certainly be returning for an evening meal soon.
