Horrible soulless barn of a place (converted from a Comet electricals shop). Avoid the ale at all costs, you will be lucky if it is drinkable. The food is OK but the overall impression this pub gives these days is poor. The old standards of the Hogshead chain have gone out of the window in this place and since there are plenty of better options around Southsea I suggest you take one of them.

Was working in the area a few weeks back, the chef on that day has black hair, I know this as found a piece of hair as long as my little finger stuck to the mushroom I was about to eat.

Mentioned it to the staff who seemed indifferent and then went onto serve the next customer.

2 beers, one of which was offline as lagers are more important.

food prices were fine, the food hygiene was not :(

This one-time table service pub by day is a great value food pub, if I recall correctly there's a 'buy two main meals for 7' deal. By night the bar is buzzing. With TVs playing music videos or sport (when it's on). Toilets are a bit of a jaunt up a steep staircase which can be a nightmare after enjoying too much of the liquid refreshment! Disabled toilets one the bar floor though.
