Excellent, as always, on my visit a few days ago. Also, greatly pleased to see a new bank of FOUR handpumps installed, with Unicorn, Dizzy Blonde, Trooper and Hoptimum Prime on sale. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. A 'must visit' when in Ashton - 10/10.

Found this place to be a bit strange. It's a town centre pub in the middle of a pedestrianised area. Whilst there is a car park at the rear, you'll be lucky to get a spot in it, as it is very small. Inside, every table was taken by diners. Most were significantly older than me. So it's possible they offer lunchtime OAP specials. Not really a drinkers pub at such times, as the only place you can prop yourself is at the bar. As a Robinsons pub, it had two of their ales on - Unicorn and Tom & Berry. The latter was predicitably fruity, but quite pleasant. Old Tom was being sold in bottles.

A pub thats always busy in the afternoon but dead at night. The food is all home cooked and they always keep a good pint. Worth a visit if you are on a pub crawl of Ashton under lyne and dont fancy the bland food from Wetherspoons.

The Caledonia is an oasis in the centre of Ashton. The interior of pub itself has a modern yet traditional feel, and is divided into several distinct areas. The Robinsons beers are served via handpump and are well kept. Food is good and reasonably priced. The best pub in the centre of Ashton!
