The Old George is tucked away up a side passage just off the Bigg Market and High Bridge. But it's a really old pub with low ceilings and plenty of character. The ale selection is also decent - Bass supplemented by 4 guests - Cullercoats Shuggy Boat Blonde & Jack The Devil, Sonnet 43 The Raven Bourbon Milk Stout & Anarchy Blonde Star. I had the Raven, which went down very nicely, despite it being my final stop for the night. Another place to add to future Newcastle itineraries. blue_scrumpy - 22 Jan 2017 22:07 |
Recently extended into the next door premises, there are now two bars. Usually serve Marstons Bass as a regular beer plus a selection of local ales. zipdiskdude - 10 May 2015 17:58 |
Had some unusual real ales on here recently, but they need to get the drains sorted. Very off-putting when your first impression of a pub is the smell of urine. zipdiskdude - 13 Dec 2012 15:20 |
In here recently, good crowd of locals, no 50yo slappers though, but met one in a club. Stella was clean and cheap, Happy Days £1.75 pint rimmer69 - 20 Nov 2010 22:26 |
Dont mind having a few in the Old George, ok for watching the footie. On the down side its is expensive and has gone the way of Fleet Street ie full of 'mature ladies' on the pull. scoreboard1 - 22 Sep 2008 13:29 |
