I ordered the Xmas 3 course meal of which the pate was as thin as a 5p coin, my main meal (roast turkey) was a very small portion and ONE roast potato chopped in half and the vegatbles were as hard as a rock. As for the Xmas pudding, well you could start and finish it with one bite.
Terrible value for money!
And to rub salt into the wounds I was made to wait for 10 minutes at the counter to pay for my meal and was then presented with the last suprise.....10% service charge.

Handsome pub.
Inside is also good - solid and attractive. This is a well run pub with everything clean and efficient. Food is tasty, though not cheap; and while it is tasty, it isn't cooked to order - so while service is quick, the food may have been sitting under light for a while. Our Yorkshire puds were dry and the veg limp. For the price I would expect better. Beers are ordinary, Special and Bombardier. We had the Ordinary and the Special; both were lifeless, and at nearly £4 a pint that is unacceptable.
So - great location, but expensive, not good quality, and poor value. Service is, however, very pleasant. And the high point is watching the boats on the river - especially the yachts.
We ate there later on and I have to say the food was good. I'm not sure about the general layout and the decor of the pub, but the response of the manager to the earlier incident was good and has not put me off going to this pub again.

We did not eat but I had a few drinks. The Aspalls was very nice and chilled as was the Guinness.
Would return if I was in the area BUT purely for convenience as it is right across the road from the tube.
The Swan's not that much different from the rest of the chain. You get a good range of beers (albeit at a price), service was fine and they seem geared up for busy spells. Particular thanks go to the waiter who let me stay in the dining area after I inadvertently strayed there while looking for somewhere to sit - one of the advantages of getting old. I suppose that if Spoons are the Travelodge of the pub industry, Nicholson's are Premier Inn .
Great pint of London Pride and we worked our way to the terrace around the back to get up on the elevated section. Terrific location.
Then a couple came and sat next to us. Thought I recognised a face from work 10 years ago and sure enough, it was him. Shouldn't have been that surprised, as he was also a massive Nick Cave fan and this was the reason we were both in the area.
Now upgraded my rating to reflect the changes.
