Spent a recent Thursday night here with colleagues from work, some of which are locals here.

A bank of 5 hand pumps each with a different ale on but I had eyes only for Timothy Taylor’s Landlord which after supping 9 pints I can confirm was on excellent form.

A large pub with plenty of seating and standing areas as well as the large room to the rear of the pub housing on my visit a huge Christmas tree, a pool table and a large projector screen.

Friendly manager and staff made for a very pleasant evening.

This is a very friendly pub. The staff are very helpful and went out of their way to make our evening most pleasant. The beer was good and the food was very tasty and well presented. This was my first experience of an east london pub and i would definitely recommend the pub for a visit.

This is a proper east end pub, great place to while away a couple of hours. Landlord and landlady try really hard to make this place work and always put a party on for an event. In the past we've had a wedding party for the royal wedding complete with wedding lunch, a jubilee party with cockney band and pimms and cucumber sandwiches, firework displays with BBQ and various bands at different times. Their Halloween party is fantastic with loads of people dressing up and prizes for the best dressed. Their food is all home oooked and curry night on a Wednesday is mouthwatering. Get down there, keep an eye on the boards outside for events, you may find yourself having a good time.

i love this pub, i always feel comfortable there...the food is great too...and i am critical about that stuff...if you get a chance try the pies and the banter with the staff is a real laugh

I like this pub, they try very hard to be successful. The girls behind the bar are great and the prices are ok. Only one major complaint and that is that the real ale is always so bad that i no longer even try to order it.

Pleased to see the pub now has real ale (Harveys Sussex on Saturday, when I dropped in prior to the footy).

Have been using this pub for about 10 years and have slowly been watching it go down the pan. Has got a great beer garden if you avoid the dog shit all over the grass. Have watched the beer go up in price but down in quality for ages now but the reason I go in here is because
1, I am to lazy to walk to drum or shoe laces
2, the entertainment provided by the landlord and his missus having there barnys generally when shes completely battered on the white whine.
3, the little click some of the regulars have formed and the looks they give strangers or as we say in the real world normal people as they walk in. The barmaids were absolutely top but they are all disappearing and being replaced by eastern Europeans who cant understands the phrase two pints please sweet heart. The best night by far is the Sunday when all the regulars have gone home after moaning that the karaoke is about to start, they dont know what there missing the karaoke and live entertainment is superb and I mean that with all sincerity. If you must go in here do it on a Sunday afternoon dont make eye contact with any one at the left side of the bar and avoid the menu unless you want a heart attack over the price of the food. If you want to watch a live sporting event then try here it has got a TV or big screen every were you look which is nice if they havent run out of beer like what usually happens.
