What are the chances of visiting two Ember Inns establishments in a row - very good in Hartlepool. From the Tall Ships, we moved onto the White House. Apparently this was a former catholic school, which complimented our earlier visit to the Catholic club in Billingham. The White House was much quieter than the Tall Ships, with far less diners. So it fell more like a pub. The outdoor patio at the front was also quite pleasant in the Sunday sun. Ales were Purity Ubu, Hopback Summer Lightning, Wells Bombardier, Timothy Taylor Boltmaker & Brakspear Bitter.

Of course you should have stayed at the rugby club.
The White House is like most of its customers ... all fur coat and no knickers.

Visiting relatives a couple of months ago and paid a visit after watching West. What a difference-the clubhouse was super friendly but the pub just couldn't care . Ale was in very poor condition and had to change it (very reluctantly). Award winning Ales-not a chance !! seem to cater for Lager and chips. Had phoned to ask about watching rugby and got the OK. Once we arrived, not one of the staff was willing to turn the sound on with many folk wanting to watch. Clearing tables was very slow and the whole place just reeked of chips. Shame about this one as Ember Inns have provided some pleasant surprises pubwise. I wish we had stayed in the clubhouse.

Visited this pub on a trip to see my relatives in Hartlepool.
I seem to remember the building as being a school when I lived in the town ?
I know Weatherspoons have a policy of converting old cinemas into pubs ,eg their venue in Cambridge.
I remember on my visit thinking it was a nice place ,well decked out with comfy sofas and a good range of drinks, including my favourite real ale.

Has maintained its great image. Good range of wines, spirits and ale and the food just seem to get better each time we visit. First class.

Park your porsche here. Good range of wines, food very good and varied, nice atmosphere. Avoid Quiz nights Monday and Wednesday unless of course you are a quiz anorak. Nice people.
