user reviews of the Spotted Cow, Angmering

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This had been my local for many years where I have been taking my 10 year old son for lunches. For the last 4 to 5 months I’ve been giving some feedback to the staff with regards to the deterioration and quality of food and drink, for instance skin on the coffees, coffee being served cold, portion getting smaller, weird ingredients and so forth.

I attended my local again to see if comments and feedback that I gave staff members on several occasions had been taken on board and help improve things as well as a previous rating and could see it had not. I then posted my feedback online to a well known website.

I then went back a few weeks later and sadly whilst standing chatting to staff and ready to place an order, I was told the owner/manager who appears to be selling up! had read my previous review (apparently staff were asked who it was and they worked out it was myself). So instead of acting on it in a mature way and way possibly offering a gesture of good will and a one to one chat for the feedback, the staff had been told TO REFUSE TO SERVE ME AND MY SON. At first I stood there in disbelief and this settled in, I found LAUGHABLE and not st all surprising really.

Sadly the voice of reason or word of mouth is not taken seriously with this individual, so bring on the new owners.

We walked down to the Spotted Cow from the campsite at nearby Ecclesden Farm back in July 2013. It was a glorious evening and sun bathed the wonderful flowering borders in the pub garden in a warm light. By far the prettiest pub garden I've been in for many years and I understand the chef is also the gardener.
Service was excellent, food was good and I seem to recall having a couple of pints of Hophead which was well kept too. We even got a few take-out bottles for back at the tent.

The people who run and work this quaint pub restaurant have got it absolutely spot on, they know exactly who to treat customers by making you feel immediately welcome. Whats more the food is all home cooked excellent fare, served to your table in a very short space of time. This place is miles ahead of any rivals, well done Spotted Cow.

This pub is my favourite for a decent home cooked food on a Sunday (or any day), a bit pricey but for some well good food that isn't packed job in the microwave, which lets face it nearly all of them are, this one isn't and I wouldn't mind paying a little exra money for proper food!! The pub side is very old type of pub, how it should be, not like these modern type pubs!! We don't want to go to these type of pubs all the time!!

Nice but busy pub down a quiet lane in Angmering. H?ad no problem getting a seat during a busy Sunday lunch period. Didn't eat but the food looked great, good selection of real ale plus all the usual eurofizz. House wines by the bottle keenly priced. Bottled Guinness well chilled behind the bar matched well with a half of Harvey's Sussex for a thirst quenching pint after a stroll to Highdown and back. Well worth a visit if you are in the nieghbourhood.

Brill food, very fresh tasting, which is refreshing to find as we seem to be slipping into a microwave culture in this country.
Lovley ale, friendly staff, good prices. Shame the bar area isnt a tad bigger, as its very popular.
Take your wives' they'll love it!

Relaxed country pub with large and segregated non-smoking restaurant. Menu is above-average pub fair with emphasis on seafood and fast-cooked fresh food as well as ubiquitous steaks. etc. Great cellar for beers and wines.
