Fantastic pub a bit off the town centre but more than worth a visit proper job on tap that's ln really good condition and the landlord seems a really nice bloke a great devon pub thats a bit special definitely one to come back to again and again

No-one has reviewed the Swan for two years so I though I should bump it.
It is still the best pub in Dawlish. Dropped in for a stress-reliever on Thursday night about 10, smashing atmosphere, easy conversation going on all round, beer still good. This place always seems to me like a country pub dropped into a town (have I said that before ?). Only downside is, it doesn't open till 16:00 Mon-Fri.

We found it very hard to find this pub and when we did we were dissapointed with what we found after so many good reviews.
It may have been the fact that there was a local kids birthday going on in the pub and the place was full of screaming kids.
Still a good beer garden though just bad timing for us 3/10

Still the best pub in the town and always a must when visiting on carnival day.The pint of St Austell "Liquid Sunshine" was divine. 8/10

Best Old School pub we found in Dawlish, by a long way.

It may be a 5 - 10 minute walk to the edge of the town, but it's worth it.

Staff and locals could not have been friendlier. Asking questions about where we were from and our Devon trip etc.

Thatcher's Gold and Dry ciders on draught. Unusually form me, I also sampled a few ales, which were excellent.

Food was a tiny bit pricey, but lovely.

If you like an old fashioned locals type pub, with plenty of dogs, then you must visit The Swan.

Small pub that is a five minute stroll away from town so seems to rely almost entirely on locals. Easily the best pub out of the seven we visited here in July though. Fantastic beer garden garden at the back is much bigger than you would expect and well kept by managers. We had a friendly chat over some perfect beer with the wonderful landlady, who could not have been more welcoming. Two locals drinking in the pub were also a good laugh. The town needs more pubs (and people) like this.

One of the last proper pubs around. Lots of friendly locals, very good real ales, decent smoking area, and welcoming landlord and lady. Thanks for some great evenings!

Called in last Sunday. What a wonderful day. A beer Fest was in progress, we sat in the garden and enjoyed the sun, beer and Morris dancers. More please !!

Great turn around by new owners, its back to being a clean pub again!!!! The beer tastes great and many of the locals who went elsewhere are returning.
Looking forward to the food being back on as the if the rest of the pub is to go by the food should be great!!!!

Visited the pub again last week after reading what Philale said in Sept. Nice to be back, pub getting back to former glory thanks to new owners. Didnt see the garden but the inside of the pub is a lot neater and cleaner. Guest ales being kept on, But no food until the new year due to the state previous owners left the kitchen in. I will be back.

What a difference! The car park has been cleared, the garden restored to its former glory and the inside is clean and lovely again with landlord and landlady behind the bar.

Real ales have been added to and many of the old regulars tell me they have returned only recently.

It will get a 10 from me next time if they have put food back on but till then they get 9.

New owners moved in recently and I look forward to sharp restoration of what has always been a good locals pub.

visited this pub again this week. What a change. The car park looks like a scrap yard, old car and old furniture all over the place. The garden was once a lovely place, now it is unkempt, and again it seems to be a dumping ground for old furniture. Beer ok. But food is below average. It's a shame it was a good place

I visited first week of July 2006 (just after we got stuffed by Portugal in the WC). They had Otter Ale on as well as Gargoyles Summer Ale (from Roger's brewery a few miles away). Good stuff!!!

Still love this pub. Telly still there, best to sit in the lounge. 1 Regular beer and 2 guest beers. Food not as good since new owners took over, otherwise it woulds score more.

Lovely 2 bar 'locals' pub. Tucked away from the tourist parts of Dawlish. Usually 3 Real Ales on offer, and the food is of good quality. Not keen on the telly but worth a visit.
