user reviews of the Litten Tree, Leighton Buzzard

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I agree with the comment below, I think clearly some of these comments have been left by the odd disgruntled troublemaker to be honest, I visit this pub most weekends and find the only ones who have a problem with the security staff are the the idiots that want to ruin everyone elses night out, and obviously dont like the fact they cant get away with it.... I saw a girl have a major asthma attack in there once, and the doorstaff couldnt do enough to help her, they were very proffessional...... hardly the actions of a bunch of "Knuckledraggers" as some of you so eloquently put it.
As for the barstaff and management, they are very friendly and chatty... I have always found them very proffessional and eager to please.. so clearly my experience of this venue differs vastly from some of the suspect comments left on here.
As for the decor, granted the place could indeed do with a lick of paint, however the toilets are always spotless, and the tables are always clean which in my opinion counts for excellent housekeeping on there behalf.
The food is simple and well presented, and very reasonably priced.... I have always without fail been asked if i enjoyed my meal and if everything was okay by the staff.... the small details make a big difference.
Overall a warm friendly venue and an enjoyable experience....
Just for the record I may be local to Leighton Buzzard however I am a young Proffessional who works in London everyday and I may just add that I would sooner eat and drink in a venue where the staff actually value my custom than a newer looking venue where the staff pay no attention to my wellbeing........

Well done guys, a great friendly, family atmosphere. Keep up the good work.

I have visited this pub on a number of accasion both day and night.

after reading some of the reviewas on hear i wonder if these people have been visiting the right pub.

the bar staff are all so friendly willing to chat and happy to help any way they can.
the food is excelnt value for money and the kids menu is great.

with regards for the door staff at the weekends they are very plesent and friendly.

granted the venue is old but there are clearly very high standards set by the management as the venue is always clean and tidy.

i would strongly recomend this venue to young familys wanting a hassle free meal out.

known locally as the litter tray lol you can see why thank god for jdw coming to town just hope the good pubs around the area dont suffer to much

This pub has suffered greatly since the opening of the Lancer next door. Practically empty most nights. Fights are a regular occurrence. The drinks are very resonablely priced though. I found almost 1 a pint cheaper then the Lancer, though the Lancer is a nicer safer place to drink. The clientele are mainly of the chav/pikee persuasion so I stay well clear.

Been a regular for quite a while now with my partner, and majority of time have witnessed fights, great place to go if thats what you want! bouncers (to coin a phrase)are the most obnoxious moronic knuckledraggers in the place! if they arent starting fights themselves they make you want to punch them anyway! If you decide you want to go to the lancer or renoirs next door for a quiet drink instead, forget it!they seem to think that although they control the doors of all three, they think they own leighton. they dont give you any drinking up time even if you just bought a drink just before time! the second the bell goes you get 'pushed' out the door. The litten tree could be a great night out but is going downhill rapidly!Great shame that it allows itself to be degraded to a shithole by the bouncers.best bit about the litten tree is emma the resident saturday night Dj, she is top notch, she works the crowd and gives them a great night. which is more then i can say for the 'jukebox' Dj that plays on friday nights!(I dj myself so i should know!)If its a good night out you want, try somewhere else! I used to spend a lot of money here but no more! hope the litten tree chain does something about this place cos general concensus oflots of people are not happy with way they are treated at weekends! Great shame........!

Update: with The Lancer now open next door, the poor ol' Litten Tree is empty. Shame (haha)

Very, very busy local town pub...especially at weekends.
Full of teenies, chavs and wannabee Paris Hilton types!
I you are over 35,clean,decent and with more than 3 brain cells - stay well clear!
It is awful.

Wee Chris,

It was a shop before (can't remember what the shop was at that time) and it's opposite where Linney's (the sports shop) was.

I lived in Leighgton Buzzard in the late eighties, can't remember this pub, did it have a previous name? I remember the Bell (formally Market Tavern) and the Roebuck. Not been there for a while obviously.

I'd tend to go with the comment below. Damn expensive and always rammed on the weekends which makes getting anywhere near the bar quite a challenge. Toilets need a clean every so often and need to be bigger, I mean three urinals in a place that size is ludicrous. But isn't that what weekenders are all about anyway???!

Otherwise, decent food on the whole though I have had a couple of dodgy servings and I've never had any trouble whatsoever.

To be honest, i have never had a problem with The Litten Tree. I'm resident Saturday night DJ and must admist it's a pretty good night. All the staff are very friendly, yes slightly pricing, but which town pub isn't. New look Thursday nights as on 1st Feb.
brockie76 - 17 Jan 2007 13:23
I've never had any trouble in the Litten Tree - it's good to go for a quiet beer on a weekday evening, or equally on a bender on the weekends. I'm thinking people who post about getting into trouble are either looking for it, or are scared of their own shadow... Plus the blonde barmaid is hot, and I know she likes me (at least coz' of me tat) :D
Chrisiboy - 28 Apr 2006 22:55
rough? try anywhere in luton! the bouncers can get a bit personal though
anonymous - 13 May 2005 11:51
can get a bit rough Fri and Sat but only because its so busy (and overspill from s**tholes next doors

best night of the week is thursday most drinks 1.50

I think people are being too hard on this place. Even if it is as bad as you say every town needs a shit pub for all the morons and knuckledraggers to go to. apart from anything else it keeps them out of the decent quiet places.

Anyhoo I have been going here for yonks and have never seen a fight, the doormen seem polite and courteous. The food is OKish.

One of the things that makes me laugh about Leighton Buzzard is the "hard nut" mentality some people like to cultivate about the place. I mean we are talking about a Home County commuter town for Christ sakes.
MyAngry - 5 Feb 2005 17:10
A great place to meet a load of knuckle draggers and get your arse kicked. Your more than likely to get into a fight, usually started by one of the bouncers or equally crazy washroom attendants.
tiger - 27 Jan 2005 10:34
i have been drinkin in the 'tree' since i turned 18 and i have never really had any trouble just once as i can remember but definatly worth a look
Ryan Parker - 5 Aug 2004 19:50
This is the best option for the Chavs of Leighton and surrounding villages. A bit like a Wetherspoons without the cheap prices and choice of drinks, the big screens and fruit machines seem to attract morons of the highest order through the doors. The first thing you encounter (the doorman) should be an instant warning signal for anyone with at least half a brain.
Paul - 18 Jun 2004 13:28
Good if you want a scrap. Bad if you want a quiet drink with your mates.
matt - 29 Apr 2004 11:07
full of idiots and generally the place people go to get pissed and start trouble and look at you like your a piece of scum because you dont have gel in your hair or a mini skirt. a real hole 0 out of 10
matt - 16 Apr 2004 12:15
No, this was never the Unicorn. That's the nearby nightclub now called Shades. As for rumours of violence, it's pretty quiet by Leighton Buzzard standards.
Steve - 1 Feb 2004 19:45
did this use to be called the Unicorn ?
