This pub has now closed. Doesn't look like a bad thing to me.

Who says the credit crunch is a bad thing? If holes like this are forced to close down then I want two credit crunches. Each week.
fulhambob - 27 Dec 2008 12:57
This place has now closed down to Three Days a week only. Its a shame its a great venue but shocking atmospehere. Like the unisex toilets - quite novel.

I walked past last night and it looks like someone has trashed it.

Is it still open at all?
Aussiebattler - 12 Dec 2008 10:50
Boring, and very average food.
madgebaby - 25 Oct 2007 13:32
Great place to take a girl if you want to dump her. Simply arrange to meet there and pronunce it as your favourite pub. Arrive a bit late, and she might have already fled. If she hasn't, the place is so depressing that she will soon be reassessing her life and walk out in tears.

If this doesn't work, take her to the hop poles and pretend you know some of the terrifying locals in there.

If your idea of a good night out is to go to the Bar 38, then you really need to reassess your life. A bland, soul destroying bar on one London's biggest roundabouts. Its really jjust boring and its sad that the owners, which ever pub chain it is, acn't think of something more interesting to do with the place.
Sparky1 - 14 Dec 2006 14:29
Was unfortunate enough to organise to meet someone here: An expensive bar with no soul to it at all. However, the bar staff were nice but i can find very little reason to go back here.

This place should have everything going for it. A prominent location, reasonable if bland interior and interesting washroom arrangements,
Unfortunately it is let down by the most miserable, surly and downright rude staff you could meet.
Watch out for closing time when they literally snatch your drinks off you and shove you out the door, nice!!!

agree with previous comments - this is bland as can be, but I still have a soft spot for it, don't know why, maybe its the shared fountain-sink in the toilets!

what's worrying is that some bright spark actually thought a plastic vapid place like this on a busy roundabout would make for an upmarket watering hole. Well it is a hole alright.Just dreadful. We got the wrong drinks in warm glasses, though to be fair to the three staff, there were about 15 customers there at the time and some of them wanted serving. You'd have a better night out in Prmark.
fulhambob - 4 Jun 2006 20:24
Not actually that bad, but then I've been here with a few friends to catch up and I'm normally in a good mood by that point. I particularly like the communal huge sink downstairs. Women still refuse to talk to me though.

Erm...yeh.

Possibly the most forgettable bar I've ever been in.

DoctorEvil - 5 Apr 2006 22:44
Souless place with very poor cocktails. Especially avoid on Saturday nights before School Disco!
rougie - 16 Jan 2006 11:31
Complete dump, ended up here after an otherwise excellent pub crawl, real downer. When will we get an end to these clone pubs of crap beer?
OldRogue - 5 Jan 2006 13:34
Just thought I'd add my voice to those saying this place is terrible - it is. Avoid it at all costs.
AshleyGB - 23 Apr 2005 16:04
Fake, fake, fake. Filled with Posh & Beck's wannabe's. Still it could be worse, try Smollensky's across the road.
CheekyShepherd - 29 Mar 2005 00:08
Pretty expensive and slow, but it's normally heaving on a friday night so it can't be that bad. If you want to chat I wouldn't recommend this place as the music is a tad on the loud side. Food is ok but nothing special.
james_cookie - 26 Jan 2005 16:27
What an awful place! Very expensive considering it's Hammersmith - my feet had taken root by the time I got served at the bar and there was a huge wait for food, so I was hungry and grumpy!
Annie - 17 Jun 2004 10:17
If you can get to the bar in this dreadful, soulless, sh1thole of a place then you're a better man than me.
fingers_malone - 5 May 2004 06:47
An overpriced, understaffed, soulless hell hole. Full of posey smug idiots who will pay any amount to be surrounded by valueless, joyless, plastic crap.
anonymous - 4 Jan 2004 23:01
Drinks are more overpriced than usual. Decent enough atmosphere, and plenty of room downstairs. Great place to grab a snack at lunchtime if you like people with Sainsbury's bags looking through tall windows at you as you sit on comfortable chairs. Food is expensive too, but I guess that's the price you pay to keep the Sainsbury's bag carrying rif raf out. Service mediocre, but a fine array of nasty spirits once you get their attention. If you like looking at well dressed people with too much money, not a bad place to spend an hour after work.

Really not as bad as people say. The bar is expensive, but it's right next to the Tube and the Astoria and it's not a nearly scummy looking as others. Took ages to get served, due to dopey bar staff and yes the tight manager had left them short staffed. The atmosphere was good and there were plenty of people having a pre Janes Addiction drink. I don't think I'd want to spend all night (especially a Fri or Sat) here because the large glass windows make you feel really exposed, but a great place to meet friends for a couple before going to the Apollo.
Alex - 13 Nov 2003 14:56
Very busy, over-priced, full of wel dressed, good looking people. I quite liked it.
Mike - 5 Oct 2003 21:08
Ridiculous drinks prices, the bar staff look permanently depressed perhaps its because they are so short staffed.I don't know!! Smart looking place but no atmosphere whatsoever! Maybe it should change locations to Leciester Square??????
Maruxa - 12 Sep 2003 16:26
Drinks are too expensive considering the pub is not even in the West End where prices are sky high anyway. They definitely need to bring their prices down in line with Edwards opposite and others in the area.
natasha - 12 Sep 2003 12:32
DRINKS ARE OVER-PRICED, MUSIC IS SOMEWHAT TO BE DESIRED!! BE PREPARED TO WAIT AT LEAST 15MINS AT THE BAR BEFORE ONE OF THE 2 STAFF DECIDE TO ACKNOWLEDGE YOU!
2 BAR STAFF ON A SATURDAY NIGHT! WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT??
dawn - 11 Sep 2003 14:35
Had a fab time in hear!! Great tunes and friendly staff!!! They even phoned me a cab when i was so drunk and had to go home!! Great night for all!!!

An abomination to be listed amongst real pubs. If Satan had a venue to do his recruitment he would set up his stall here. Over priced beer, over dressed, under impressed staff. Visit only if interested in selling your soul
Graham - [email protected] - 27 May 2003 17:12
Bar 38 Longacre was much better - have you seen how good looking the staff are? The management obviously have their priorities straight when it comes to recruitment.
steve - 15 May 2003 12:01
has a good downstairs area if you are trying to organise a leaving drinks party however the upstairs area does get very busy
rj - 30 Apr 2003 12:38
I can't believe how crowded this place is, must be due to the location. brushed steel - Yawn!
beer - 13 Feb 2003 12:16
The bar is cool, but the management is cold.
Christy - 9 Dec 2002 19:26
Saturday nights are particularly lively due to it's proximity to Po Na Na and hence a useful pre-School Disco meeting pub
Mike - 12 Aug 2002 11:22
