Interesting place, but no atmosphere at all. Beer ok, but wouldn't go out of the way to revisit.

For historical reasons, my favourite edinburgh pubs. Often, there is a band on. Everyone crowds around the front bar and it then opens into a spacious area. Nearly everytime I go in, I come out with a story.... last year, it was Liam Gallagher was in here. This year, nothing much happened.

Worst pub on the Grassmarket by a country mile. No atmosphere of any kind, just a place where those looking to get totally inebriated gather to chuck as much alcohol as they can down their necks as quickly as possible.
Prices here are way above those charged in the other pubs in the Grassmarket (3.30 for a pint of 3.8% Carlsberg - Tenants in the Last Drop nearby was only 2.65). No real ale available on my visit.
Absolutely no reason for anyone to put up with this awful place when there are other far better pubs so close.

Huge breakfasts with both black and white puddings. Beer selection not great, but otherwise ok. Didn't run into any trouble.

unhappy bar staff and crap service. not much going for it except the location if you want to drink in the grass market.

i found this pub to be quite good actually. most of the staff are very friendly but some need a lesson in customer service. the beer tastes really good and the food too. dont go on a thursday night though because the band that play are rubbish

I found this an unimpressive pub which seems to attract the undesirable element. Maybe because it opens until 1am when most of the others nearby close at midnight. The beer is McEwans which is probably the worst of the 80 shilling beers on offer in Edinburgh. Go for a scrap but little else.
